Almost Free Book Offer

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Some of you may know me through my articles in the magazine. As I mentioned in an earlier post several years ago I did up a self-published book on How to Make Extra Money in the Country. It seems to fit the needs of many of the post in the forum. I still have five copies left, but occasionally get an order from a past book review, so I'm not worried about selling them. Tell ya' what I'll do. It is in Microsoft Word 97 format. If you can use that format and want an electronic copy you have two options: 1) send me a self-addressed stamped envelope with $.55 postage and three loose first class postage stamps (to cover the cost of the 3 1/2" diskette). 2) e-mail me directly at scharabo@aol.com. I can attach it to an e-mail for free. However, it is a large file.

In electronic format it would be difficult to read cover-to-cover. However, you can find an item in the index and then go to that item.

Something I found interesting. It received favorable review in several back-to-the-land, homesteading, etc. magazines with few orders. Successful Farming mentioned it almost in passing and I received over 200 orders. I wrote it intended at Countryside readers, but apparently my target market should have been farmers looking to make money on the side.

Through the first try to send it electronically to someone, it takes about six minutes just to upload the file. (I said it was a large file.) Thus, what I'll do is to send it out once a day to whoever requested it as a multiple address e-mail.

Folks, just a suggestion -- I've asked Ken for the e-mail version of his book, but plan to treat it like shareware -- if it turns out to be something we can get some good out of, we'll send him some money. He ought to get something for the time and effort he's put into this.

Ken, I'd like to take a look at it, and if it's something I like, I'll send you some $$ too!!! 8-)

Can you please email it to me @ ems@nac.net

Thanks!

Ken, I'd like to read it too, and would be glad to pay you. Thanks! Lenore archambo@winco.net

Ken, I'd like an email copy too. What does the actual book cost? I'm a book dealer and I'd like a copy to sell. I think there is a market for it where I'm located. Thanks, Linda
