Good morning Doonesbury Exiles. A thread was started here: Should I keep deleting posts over 2 days old? for your input.

If you keep posting on the same thread, the download will get slower, unless older replies are deleted. If you start a new Hot Buttons thread every day or two, we can keep the download speed very snappy. A thread was started for that a few days ago, at Hot Buttons 2...a faster download. If you want to go that way, you will have a permanent archive of all posts.

If you use this link for your bookmark: New Answers, you will always be able to see what threads have been started.

Your choice. I'd appreciate your comments on the Should I delete? thread.

(Billybob, the HTML for your URL links is (a href="http://paste your URL here")link(/a) replacing the parenthesis with the angle brackets.)

I haven't checked in for a few days. I see everything is basically the same. Have been bogged down with work. There's a genetics conference here this weekend and protests are planned, so we have all been bust preparing for that. After all this fuss, I am going to be really annoyed if the "protests" turn out to be a couple of teenagers with picket signs.

This is the discussion I started about the whole thing on our site. Keeping up with it has practically been a full time job: Minneapolis police to 'screen' people during protest threat.

Abby's busy re-adjusting. He says being without beer that long can really change a man :-)

-- jac (jac_pike@hotmail.com), July 20, 2000.

Poor thing!!! :oD No beer at all, even visiting all those people?? That may constitute cruel and unusual something or other!!!

in an attempt to start a discussion on an isue other than lg or the causes of the collapse:

global warming! greenlands melting! sea levels rising! head for the hills everyone!

I solemnly swear that Absalon was provided with actual beer--Sam Adams, too, not that cheap watery stuff they make in St. Louis or Milwaukee.

Sadly, he left just before I discovered a place fairly nearby where I can buy Dixie Blackened Voodoo Lager, or he'd have had something to write home about.

Problem was, he left here and went out west to hang out with the youngsters...

-- Bocce (bocce42@yahoo.com), July 20, 2000.

hmmm....it took just a tiny bit of prodding towards abs to cough up who he'd ban..... geesh....i wonder how much more it'd take for him to cough up the names of those that threatened him with bodily harm?...

-- LunaticFringe (whatever@wherever.com), July 20, 2000.

LF does it matter?

Bocce we stand corrected... :o)

-- Lisa (cslmc@eiu.edu), July 20, 2000.

LF I think you misunderstand me - I don't plan to ban anyone. It was just the list of people I think have "broken" the Agreement.
It was actually an argument for why nobody should be banned. As I say, the only stuff I'd do anything about is RL info, spam, copyright issues and such. This shouldn't even lead to banning, or at least not in my oppinion. I can't really think of anything that should lead to banning, which wouldn't be covered by the laws.

-- Absalon (defender_of_kristjanity@yahoo.com), July 21, 2000.

Oh My God. The whiners got their way; GRC is probably pleased as punch that SB is closed down. LG is no longer in anyone's hair.

Yet *still* all most of y'all who've tried for so long to get him banned can spend your time talking about his him.

I can't wait to send him this scrollback. He'll be tickled pink.

-- JJ (snork@hahaha.com), July 21, 2000.

That post was, of course, not directed at those who found the banning attempts not only laughable but the work of the mentally challenged.

-- JJ (snork@hahaha.com), July 21, 2000.

LG already has seen it all, barfly...like we care?....he tries to bother us and can't anymore... you two go have fun together...

-- LunaticFringe (whatever@wherever.com), July 21, 2000.

try and stay current, will ya, barfly?...i know, it's real hard for someone like you to pay attention....just give it a shot, tho...

-- LunaticFringe (whatever@wherever.com), July 21, 2000.

Shut up, LF.

Hey, Jen.

Jac, Abby had every opportunity to consume alcoholic beverages here; and Bocce, I am not underage.

-- Emily (em@members.evolt.org), July 21, 2000.

sure, em....just for you..

-- LunaticFringe (whatever@wherever.com), July 21, 2000.

Thanks.

-- Emily (em@members.evolt.org), July 22, 2000.

JJ still has her lips pressed to LG's buttocks, I see.

JJ must be off her meds again.

That's when she tracks us all down.

Oh, yeah, Vernal Equinox, Autumnal Equinox, Mid-Summer. They all have great meaning to JJ.

Actually, much more meaning than they should.

Hmm. Been rather dead here for a couple of days, it seems.

For those who haven't checked in at DB lately, we're now seeing October as the posted date for the relaunch of Soundbytes.

-- Bocce (bocce42@yahoo.com), July 25, 2000.

In some form.... the gist of it seems to be a hacker proof format..... good luck to em....

-- Lisa (cslmc@eiu.edu), July 25, 2000.

I suspect that by "flameproof" they mean something like registration and real (as opposed to hotmail-type or anonymizing) addies, so that excess can be dealt with realistically.

But we'll just all have to wait and see....

-- GRC (GRCCGR@hotmail.com), July 25, 2000.

That sounds reasonable to me, GRC, and like something that should have been done from the beginning, but......

-- Lisa (cslmc@eiu.edu), July 26, 2000.

I can't believe this is still here.

-- Tom (digger623@hotmail.com), October 02, 2001.

Tom: you think that's something? Check THIS site out:

http://members.tripod.com/~save_soundbytes/

Still goin' strong....

-- Reece (skywise@home.com), December 06, 2001.

Wow, is this place still around?

I tried locating it a couple of months ago, but without succes.

-- Kristjan (defender_of_kristjanity@yahoo.com), December 06, 2001.

I'm intent on being the last one to ever post here.
