I was thinking about how Kellie Martin left while still on her contract and Sherri Stringfield left but wasn't able to work for 3 years while Kellie is able to. I bet Sherri is mad at ER for that. I mean I would be. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Maria Bello, Gloria Ruben, and George Clooney leave while still on their contracts? Well George might not have but what about Maria and Gloria?

I know for a fact that George Clooney did not break his contract, because when ER started all the original characters were signed on for 5 seasons, and Gearge left in the 5th season. He just left early because the producers did not want the season finale to revolve around his leaving. And I'm pretty sure that Gloria Rueban did not break her contract either. She became a regular on the show in the second season, and she was likely also signed on for 5 seasons, and the 6th season would have been her 5th. She just left early, that's all. As for Sherry, everyone who is obsessed with ER knows that she broke her contract. As for Kellie and Maria, I do not know.

I think part of it is just the fact that the producers of ER did NOT want Sherri to leave so that was there way of "punishing" her. I think with Kellie Martin, Maria Bello and Gloria Reuben it was more of a mutual decision. I think Kellie may have still been under contract, I am not sure about the other two.
