So, what's up with NED....

So, where does NED stand? I've been really intrigued by this film and your quest to finish it since i ran across the page on corona's. Any chance on getting a little more info, say a script excerpt?

Can't wait for the final product :)

Thanks. S'good to hear.

NED is alive and kicking. We are half way through editing and had to stop for lack of funds. To combat this we are.......

Setting up the NED Fund - screen credit for donations, tee-shirts, mugs, etc, that will all go into finishing the film. It was suggested by a NED compatriot like yourself. http://www.noextraday.com/ then click on Ned Fund.

Sending rough cuts to houses that provide finishing funds. http://www.thousand-words.com/ http://www.nextwavefilms.com/

Selling parts of Wendy to Science. Selling Parts of David to Hasbro

Trying to figure out other ways to find investors. If you have ideas post away, we'd love to hear 'em.

After editing and getting the negative cut, we will attack festivals with a fervor not seen since Michelle Pfeiffer dressed up in leather and went "Meow". Carpet bomb, baby. Tapes, tapes everywhere. From SXSW to Walla Walla rural tri-monthly film festival.

Around then you should see a trailer up here.

As for script excerpts...Hmmmm. I'll have to think on that, but it's a good idea. A few years ago when we wrote this, portions of it did get on the web, but they got mangled and changed. I actually had a friend across the country email a joke made from a part of my own script. We got a little weirded out after that. Maybe the time has come to try again.

Thanks for the post.

Mike, I hate to break it to you, but science wouldn't take me.

However, we are still selling parts of David to Hasbro.

And any fundraising suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I keep suggesting bake sales, but then Mike looks at me funny and no one talks to me for a week.

Basically my thought on posting script excerpts would be that they would act in lieu of a trailer. Posting 1 or 2 scenes or parts of scenes, representative of the film would give people a better look into the film. I was really excited by your premise, and would like to at least get a peek at 1 or 2 things that will be coming to a theater near me soon.

NED fund: By no means am I swimming in filthy lucre, but I'm pretty sure I could come up with one to two hundred dollars to contribute to this noble cause.

misc:

Project Greenlight: Saw info on this today. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck (last seen on a road trip to vermont) are exec. producing a show w/ hbo and miramax. It's called Project Greenlight and its going to be an online contest, people submit their screenplays, 1 is picked and they are then hired to direct it and give like about a 1 mil. budget. HBO makes a doc. series about the making of the film and miramax relases it.

Sounds neat. Might actually finish one of my god-damn screenplays for it. I just wonder with these things. If they are picked by internet voting, it ends up picking the most bland, run of the mill piece. Anything really exciting won't win a vote like this b/c it won't please enough people. (cf. Current Top 3 vote getters on garageband.com). If it's selected by a commitee of judges, you would hope they would pick something risky, something challenging, something people might want to watch 13 hrs. of doc. on the making of. .... However I babble.

Internet voters can be not evil. IMDB's top 250 goes in an order that I can mostly accept.

Also here is a random odd thing: Have you ever seen that super white indian chick who does ITN news? Well she was in Esquire and this is the link to her unnoficial fan page: http://zapatopi.net/daljit.html Freaky (said like Johnny Bravo)

Good point. I'll look through the script and see if I can find some stand alone parts.

As for the NED Fund: We don't want anyone going hungry, but if you have a few bucks laying around and you want to be be part of a film this is a good chance. If you contribute you get a spot in the credits as well as our undying gratitude. Widge suggested splitting it up into levels in the credits. Something like: Junior Producer, Associate Producer, Uber Producer, Hero of Independent Film, Got to bitch slap Joel Schumacher, and The Pentaverate. Plus if you find me sometime later in life I'll take you out for beers. We want to stay an indie film here so people chipping in is invaluable. I'll try to work up something special for contributors after the film.

Project Greenlight: On it, thanks for the heads-up. I think they should let Affleck and Damon pick the winners.

BTW, you have a page up with your scripts?

Robot Frank kicks ass. It's like a live action Red Meat.

I like the IMDB, even though they booted us off. We have the distinction of being the only film kicked off for being too roudy.

As for Daljit. She was a topic of conversaition throughout the shoot. Our soundman even made a little song and dance for her.
