From the Ronnie:

CARL Cort believes Newcastle United can match the famous Crazy Gang spirit of his former club Wimbledon. The #7 million signing met his new teammates for the first time yesterday at the club's Chester-le-Street training ground. And he saw at first hand the togetherness that manager Bobby Robson is building into the squad after the divisions of the Ruud Gullit regime. Cort, who signed a five-year-contract with the club last week, said: "Everyone made me feel very welcome. "There were one or two familiar faces - I know Kieron Dyer and Andy Griffin from the England Under-21s and Warren Barton from my days as an apprentice at Wimbledon. "They're always helpful and while every club is different the atmosphere amongst the lads was brilliant. "The only different to Wimbledon is that there are a lot more foreign players here - at Wimbledon the side was mainly made up of English players." Robson put the squad, including misfit Silvio Maric, through light morning and afternoon sessions. "I felt fine to be honest. I'd been with the England Under-21s through part of the summer so I've kept myself in shape - but I'm sure it's going to get harder," said Cort. Cort was unveiled at the training ground today along with Argentinian new boys Christian Bassedas and Daniel Cordone.
