Nikon Scanners

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

The Nikon 2000 film scanner has been out for over a year now. Does anyone know whether a newer version is about to be released?

At its price it is still about the best ... or best ... that is available.

Yes, they have 3-new scanners coming out (1/2001): Coolscan IV-ED (an upgrade of the LS-2000 (same range but Digital ICE-3, Coolscan 4000-ED (similar but 4000dpi, a density range of 4.2, and Digital ICE-3), and Coolscan 8000-ED (similar to 4000, in dpi, but also accepts 120 film) All three now are equiped with Digital ICE-3 software, and apparently optics now include Extra-Low Dispersion glass (ED). I've not been able to find anyone stocking yet, but the spec page is @ nikonusa scanner home page. - JW
