Re. Fisher,

The next General Conference will be held in Orlando, Fl. The bid was motioned and passed at the 1996 General Confernece.

It does not seem likely that they would bring it back to Orlando in such a short time period. It was just there 8 years ago. Besides it was formally announced at this General Conference, that I just finished attending, that it would be in Indianapolis...also, the City of Indianapolis even put a booth up during the last couple days touting their city as the next Conference location. If they had previously discussed Orlando, they obviously have changed their minds about it at this point. This was the official announcement of the next location.

Perhaps there is confusion about the site because the Lay Biennial will be held next year (2001) in Jacksonville, Florida. It is similar to the General Conference in that it represents organized Lay from the nineteen episcopal districts.

General Conference 2012 I would really challenge Bishop Ingram and the members of the Cape Annual Conference in the 15th Episcopal District to tender / bid / invite the 49th Session of the General Conference in 2012 to the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town (venue of the Centenial Celebrations). Are you ready for this one?

Although I applaud the spirit of Rev. Hanse's suggestion. I think it would be a severe strain on church finances to have the general conference take place in Africa. The cost would severely impair many other projects that are so necessary in the church and the general conference budget would explode.
