Focomat 1c vintage??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

I'm trying to determine the vintage of a Leitz Focomat 1c enlarger I bought used. The only features that seem to me that might help are: the lamp housing is a medium gray; the metal portions around the negative and lens stages and the raise/lower arms that connect to the column are a darker charcoal; the metal grounding screw at the rear of the column base has a painted red head. I don't see a serial number. Any ideas? TIA, njb

I don't believe that the Focomat Ic came with a serial number (I don't know where that would be). I have a Focomat that I bought as the second owner in 1970, and would have been from the early '60s in my estimation. The lens (50mm f/4.5)IS marked on the rear ring (inside) and is 1991364,--for comparison purposes. I think yours is older.

HTH,

Dan
