Did Tricia give up?

How about: Does anyone know the average annual rainfall of the Amazon basin?

-- gene (ekbaker@essex1.com), July 18, 2000.

Kritter, would I *ever* give up?!??

Gene, who cares? :-)

Does Gene really want to know? If so, will he read on? :-)

Tropical climates. Most of the Orinoco Basin and virtually all of the Amazon Basin, as well as the lower parts of the Guiana Highlands and the eastern foothills of much of the Andes, have a climate characterized by continuous high temperatures and heavy rainfall. There is little seasonal variation in temperatures because this zone lies along the equator. There is some variation between daytime and nighttime temperatures, though the nightly low temperature seldom drops below 650F (180C). Average temperatures are usually in the low 80s F (upper 20s C) with only a few degrees difference between the warmest and coldest months. Throughout this region rainfall totals are high--with some places averaging more than 100 inches (254 centimeters) of rain per year. Humidity is high all year.

Is that a lot of rain?

-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), July 19, 2000.

But HOW much more than 100 inches a year?

-- Robert A. Cook, PE (Marietta, GA) (cook.r@csaatl.com), July 19, 2000.

Did Gayla cheat?

Did Kritter get bored without questions?

-- Tricia the Canuck (jayles@telusplanet.net), July 19, 2000.

Wow, Gayla, you really know a lot. Assuming that you really KNOW that information and didn't just make it up to impress me. But either way, I am impressed, since I wasn't able to make up a convincing answer on my own, and I sure didn't know the answer myself.

But . . . I suspected that it rained a lot there, and that it had something to do with its being called a 'rain forest.'

Now, I have another question: In the making of the movie, "Joe's Apartment", at the end of the film is the statement "no cockroaches were harmed in the making of this film." Why NOT?

Was Gene's question a question?

If I do get tired of questions, will I keep asking them anyhow out of spite?

-- kritter (kritter@adephia.net), July 20, 2000.

Is this the Spanish Inquisition, or what?

-- Tim (pixmo@pixelquest.com), July 20, 2000.

Them Spaniards is always inquiring about something.

Ya gotta learn to just ignore them.

Kritter, why did you start this thread if you're tired of questions?

Do you suppose the others have missed the point of the thread? They're not conversing in questions, are they?

-- Tricia the Canuck (jayles@telusplanet.net), July 20, 2000.

Do you think we should explain it to them?

-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), July 20, 2000.

That depends. How many lifelines do I have left?

-- Tim (pixmo@pixelquest.com), July 21, 2000.

Tim, you have lifelines????

Kritter, if they can't figure it out, is it worth it to explain? ;-)
