Why do athletes use drugs. What is the motivation.

Most athletes are involved in drug taking to gain that competitive edge over there fellow competitors. As you get higher in the competitive level the standard of performance is decreased creating a need for that extra level to win a event. This encourages athletes to take drugs as they are motivated to win. Most athletes do not know the side affects of performance inhancing drugs.
