seek knowledge of father, grandfathers, photo

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Southern Railway : One Thread

My father was Charles F. Denny, engineer working out of Danville, and Somerset, Ky. He was photographed driving the first diesel Southern ran, crossing a trestle at Burnside, Ky. This was seen as a mural in a large terminal, either Atlanta or Jacksonville,Fla. He was killed in action in WW2. His father Charles F. Denny sr. was dispatcher at Somerset, Ky. Is anyone out there old enough to remember either of these men? I never knew them. It would be great to hear something about them.

Margaret,

I lived in Somerset, KY from '67 to '85. Your father's (and grandfather's) name sounds familiar - I just can't put my finger on it. I still have friends in the area that lived there long before I did and seem to know everything about the place...I'll do some checking and get back to you. Jeff
