When did you stop believing in Santa?

How would you describe your political views?

-- Anonymous, July 20, 2000

Santa: I don't remember how old I was at the time... I think about 6. My sister was like, "Hey Katie, you know Santa Claus isn't real, right?" I cried.

How many times have you had sex?

How many times have you had sex with Eric?

Is Eric good in bed?

Are you good in bed?

Are you in love with Eric?

Is he in love with you?

How often do you guys see each other?

What's going to happen with you guys when you go off to college?

Why aren't you going to college closer to him?

When will you see him next?

When did you lose your virginity? I mean, on the first visit or what?

Was it what you expected? Did he hurt you?

Oh my... I'm nosy... hehe.

Well, I hope for Katie's sake Mr. Egolf is better sexually now than he was with me. He had no concern whatsoever for my comfort. Not that it mattered, anyway. One word: limp.

-- Anonymous, July 20, 2000

Gosh Laura...don't you ever say anything that's not bitter??

Katie: all the questions L. Hardy asked, plus...if you could change one thing about the world, your life, the universe...basically, any one thing, what would it be??

OK, so I'm in a deep and philosophical (and nosy) mood at the moment.

What's your favorite flower?

What's your favorite cheese?

What's your favorite salad dressing?

If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Whats your favorite side of the bed?

Do you sleep with a stuffed thing?

Well, enough stupid questions from me.. Bye !

HA! Limp. You're an idiot, Laura.

Political leanings: The short answer would be "left." The long answer, well... I'm tired.

How many times have you had sex? 6.

How many times have you had sex with Eric? 6.

Is Eric good in bed? Yep.

Are you good in bed? No, but Eric has decided to lie and say otherwise here..

Are you in love with Eric? Mmmhmm.

Is he in love with you? So he says. :P

How often do you guys see each other? Well, twice in May, once in June, and so far once this month.

What's going to happen with you guys when you go off to college? Oh lord, don't get me started. I've already freaked out about this. We shall see... Bloomington-Normal has an airport, cha-ching.

Why aren't you going to college closer to him? My parents won't pay for me to go out of state.

When will you see him next? Probably the week after next.

When did you lose your virginity? I mean, on the first visit or what? Second visit. May 28th.

Was it what you expected? Did he hurt you? Actually, it was about twenty times better than what I expected, thanks to all of the girls in my school telling me how horrible it was for them. And no he didn't hurt me... good God. Why does everybody keep asking me that [Greg]??

if you could change one thing about the world, your life, the universe...basically, any one thing, what would it be?

Oh lord.. sounds like I'm in the Miss America pageant. :)

The world -- Um... I'd make everyone get their head out of their ass and stop fighting about stupid shit like political boundaries. It's a fucking invisible line, you morons. Fight over something decent, like some other jerk screwing your wife. Yeah.

My life -- My location! God I hate the Midwest. I look out my window, what do I see? Corn. And more corn. AND MORE FUCKING CORN. Ack! Also, my age. I wish I could have just graduated from college instead of high school. :(

The universe -- Those pesky asteroids. You know that one day we're gonna be sitting around bitching and moaning about the price of gas and BAM! We're dead. Also, black holes... what the fuck are THOSE about, man?

-- Anonymous, July 21, 2000

What's your favorite flower? Um... not real big on flowers.

What's your favorite cheese? Cheddar, I guess.

What's your favorite salad dressing? Caesar.

If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why? John Lennon, because hello, he's John Lennon.

Whats your favorite side of the bed? Well... my bed is pretty small, so I don't really have a side. I turn over, I'm on the left side, I turn back over, I'm on the right.

Do you sleep with a stuffed thing? I used to sleep with a bear, but he is now currently residing in VA.

I asked questions, but they aren't here. Damnit. Oh well.

Okay.. since Ms. Katie is the resident sex expert now... maybe she can clear up the whole base issue to all her readers. What do you consider to be first, second, third base and then a homerun? Lets see how this one pans out... :)

What is your shoe size? Are you on birth control? Who are you going to vote for in the Presidential election? Do you want kids (ever)? Do you plan to join anything in college? Did you bleed when you lost your virginity? What do you think about people (like me) who only "know" you from reading your webpage asking extremely personal questions like this?

-- Anonymous, July 21, 2000

What is your shoe size? Depends on the shoe, but generally 10. I know, I know.

Are you on birth control? Not yet.

Who are you going to vote for in the Presidential election? Not sure yet.

Do you want kids (ever)? Probably... not for awhile, though, obviously.

Do you plan to join anything in college? Depends. I'm sure as hell not joining a sorority or anything.

Did you bleed when you lost your virginity? No...

What do you think about people (like me) who only "know" you from reading your webpage asking extremely personal questions like this? I don't care... I'm the one who said "ask me anything," so I was sort of inviting it. Anyway, if it's way too personal I just won't answer it. :)

-- Anonymous, July 21, 2000

What is too personal a question to ask? ;)

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

Haha... well, you ask whatever you want to ask, and if I don't answer it, it's too personal. :)

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

How about some questions for Eric? I don't know if he'll want to answer them, but I'll go 'head and post them anyway. :-)

How long have you been talking to Katie online?

How did you first "meet" her online -- through "digital ink" or something else?

When did you guys start talking seriously (whatever "seriously" means)?

Who first brought up the idea of you two meeting -- you or Katie? When?

Why did you want to meet her?

Are you in love with her? When did you first know?

The biggie -- what is this girl like in person????

You're not giving our Katie any sexually transmitted diseases or anything, are you (over-protective reader alert!)?

How did your first meeting go? Were you nervous? What was the first thing she said to you and vice versa? Was she what you expected?

I think that's it for now. :-)

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

"How about some questions for Eric? I don't know if he'll want to answer them, but I'll go 'head and post them anyway. :-)"

Sure, I'm game. :)

"How long have you been talking to Katie online?"

Two years, I think? Maybe two and a half? A long time, at any rate. :)

"How did you first "meet" her online -- through "digital ink" or something else?"

If I recall correctly, I was going through one of those ICQ Member lists that were so popular a while back, looking for new friends to talk to. I found hers, and unlike most of them, there was a web page attached to the description... a really cool web page.

"When did you guys start talking seriously (whatever "seriously" means)?"

Pretty soon afterwards. I spend a lot of time online, and there are few people on here I talk to as much as Katie.

"Who first brought up the idea of you two meeting -- you or Katie? When?"

Me. Last year, off and on, the most famous time being November.

"Why did you want to meet her?"

Duh... it's Katie. :) She's cool!

"Are you in love with her? When did you first know?"

Yes I am. Probably at the conclusion of our first visit, when I didn't want her to go even though I knew she had to.

"The biggie -- what is this girl like in person????"

A lot like she is online, except not in so many words. She's a pretty quiet person. She's the type that if I saw something really stupid, like mud flaps on a Miata or something, we'd both see it and laugh hysterically, but where I would want to beat the joke into the ground, she wouldn't say anything about it. She'd just laugh. She's rather cynical, and she has as much self-esteem as she has online. I'm working on her, though. :)

"You're not giving our Katie any sexually transmitted diseases or anything, are you (over-protective reader alert!)?"

Aside from an overwhelming desire to have sex again ("It's like Pringles - once you pop, you can't stop!"), no.

"How did your first meeting go?"

Wonderfully. :)

"Were you nervous?"

Yeah. I'm always nervous meeting people like that. Added to that was the fact that I didn't know where she was, so I wasn't sure if we were going to meet. I thought she might have chickened out. But after the first hug, it was a lot better.

"What was the first thing she said to you and vice versa?"

Me: Hi. Her: Where WERE you? (I had managed to get into the hotel without her seeing me, and I didn't see her either)

"Was she what you expected?"

Better than expected. And I was expecting a lot. :) I remember thinking of all of the times when she called herself fat, and as I was hugging her, thinking, "How the hell does she justify that to herself?" Don't believe the hype, folks. She's very cuddlicious.

"I think that's it for now. :-)"

Whew.

I know this is going to seem like an odd question, but I just gotta ask. Does your tap water taste like seltzer water? The reason I'm asking is because about ten years ago we went to Southern Illinois to visit my bastard of a grandpa and at this bar that he owned the water tasted horrible. At his house, the water tasted horrible. While I was down there, I lived off of Slurpees from the Casey's down there.

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

I don't know what seltzer water tastes like, actually... but our water tastes gross. I kind of live out in the middle of nowhere, and up until last month we had well water, which was fine-tasting. Now we're hooked up to Lebanon's water, and it is dee-sgust-ing. Ever accidently swallowed water while in a pool or something? It tastes kind of like that. I would invest in a Brita or something, but I'm moving in less than a month (!!!), so who cares. Well, actually, ISU's water isn't that wonderful either, so I may invest in a Brita, anyway.

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

Me. Last year, off and on, the most famous time being November.

Yep... I remember back in April '99 when I went to DC, he said something about possibly going up there and meeting me or something, just for the hell of it. Obviously that didn't happen, because I went with my parents and they would have freaked.

Yes I am. Probably at the conclusion of our first visit, when I didn't want her to go even though I knew she had to.

Oh please... he was kicking me out of the room, you guys. Don't let him fool you. :) Okay... so he was kicking me out because it was like 10:15 or something, and I was supposed to have been home at 10 (and it took a good 45-50 minutes for me to get home). Minor detail.

A lot like she is online, except not in so many words.

"Not in so many words" -- now that may be the understatement of the year...

Yeah. I'm always nervous meeting people like that. Added to that was the fact that I didn't know where she was, so I wasn't sure if we were going to meet. I thought she might have chickened out. But after the first hug, it was a lot better.

Oh yeah, he was nervous. Uh-huh. Picture this. I finally find the room (apparently there was a "new" and "old" section of the hotel, and I was roaming around the "old" section for like 20 minutes). I was really calm sitting in the lobby, but now the nervousness sets in again. So I'm standing outside the room, trying not to throw up. I'm like "Okay Trame... knock on the door. No, knock. KNOCK ON THE FUCKING DOOR ALREADY!" I can hear the TV inside the room... the bastard is in there chillin, watching The Simpsons. Oh lord. I'm about ready to faint, he's kicking back watching TV.

Me: Hi. Her: Where WERE you? (I had managed to get into the hotel without her seeing me, and I didn't see her either)

Yeah, lovely, wasn't it? I always say the rudest things right off. Like last time, when I finally got to the hotel and he opened the door. Instead of saying "hi," or pouncing on him or something, I said, "What the HELL happened?" Oh lord.

Better than expected. And I was expecting a lot. :) I remember thinking of all of the times when she called herself fat, and as I was hugging her, thinking, "How the hell does she justify that to herself?" Don't believe the hype, folks. She's very cuddlicious.

Blah. BLAH. BLAAAAAAAAAAH.

So Eric cheerfully tells the world that he's made Katie into a raving sex addict. What's your reaction to that, Katie?

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

How much does/HAS this cost you (to see eachother)?

Who pays for it?

Do (or will) either of you have qualms about telling people where you've met?

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

Damn, I can't even get people to say to me that they love me face-to- face, and you get Eric saying it all over the internet. You're so lucky....

I have a question which isn't actually totally filthy, or exclusively concentrated on your sex life ;) What do you want to do? in the future, I mean. I know you're a history freak - you want to do something history-related, right? But what?

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

How does it feel to be the addicting soap opera that you are to so many people?

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

"Well, I hope for Katie's sake Mr. Egolf is better sexually now than he was with me. He had no concern whatsoever for my comfort. Not that it mattered, anyway. One word: limp."

This bulletin board thread was pointed out to me by Katie. If anyone cares (and at least two do, calling me a bitter idiot), I didn't post the above statement. IPs are logged, and that of the imposter does not match mine.

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2000

So Eric cheerfully tells the world that he's made Katie into a raving sex addict. What's your reaction to that, Katie?

Oh come on... I'm not a sex addict. That sounds like I'd just go around having sex with anybody just to have sex. Not the case. Now, an Eric addict... :P

How much does/HAS this cost you (to see eachother)? Who pays for it?

Well, Eric flies for free so basically the only cost is for the hotel room (and the cab fare last time, which I still feel bad about). He paid the first two times, I paid the last two times, and I'm not sure what we're doing the next time. It's not too bad. It's not like he's staying on the Landing for $130 a night or anything.

Do (or will) either of you have qualms about telling people where you've met?

Um... what do you mean, where we've met?

What do you want to do? in the future, I mean. I know you're a history freak - you want to do something history-related, right? But what?

I don't know yet. My dream job is to work at the Smithsonian -- the Museum of American History, specifically. Doing what? Don't know. Will this actually happen? Probably not. So then what? Don't know yet. I'll figure it out one of these years. :)

How does it feel to be the addicting soap opera that you are to so many people?

I think it's hysterical. I sure as hell don't feel like I'm in a soap opera... my life is pretty goddamn boring, if you want to know the truth. Kind of makes me wonder what kind of boring-ass lives my readers lead, if they get so caught up in mine...

-- Anonymous, July 23, 2000

More questions for Eric... hope you don't mind. If they're too personal, I apologize. :)

We all know that Katie had basically no sexual experience before you (I think she said she had been kissed once, and it was just a peck). How did you go about dealing with that? Were you afraid of freaking her out if you moved too fast? How did you go about bringing up the subject of sex? Did you want to have sex on the first visit? Did it even come up (no pun intended)?

Katie once made the comment that if she ever had sex, it would have to be pitch black in the room. How did that go? :-) While we're kind of on the subject, was (or is) it hard fighting her low self-esteem? I imagine that would cause some problems in the area of sex.

Have you given Katie any presents or anything? Has she given you anything?

What are you guys? Boyfriend/girlfriend?

Does she look good naked? ;-)

You said you were nervous the first time - do you still get nervous when you visit her?

-- Anonymous, July 23, 2000

One more thing... may I make a request? How about Katie writing an entry about their first visit, and then Eric writing a guest entry on the same thing? Then we can compare and hopefully get some details. Come now, I can't be the ONLY one dying to know these things! :-)

-- Anonymous, July 23, 2000

Well you sure got some QUESTIONS! :)

-- Anonymous, July 23, 2000

I mean, telling people that you've met on the *gasp* internet.

(I'm gasping sarcastically, cuz I met my boyfriend online 3 years ago. Uh huh..and he's still my boyfriend so yeah)

-- Anonymous, July 23, 2000

More questions, Eric (I know this was supposed to be "Ask KATIE a question," but oh well). :-)

Any plans for long term here, or is it just a summer fling?

I know Katie's parents are currently unaware; are yours? What do you tell them?

Is the distance really hard to deal with? I imagine it would be, but some people like that sort of thing.

What's your favorite thing about Katie (and I don't mean physically -- unless you want to tell us!)? :-)

Is Katie going to go visit you, or will you always be the one traveling?

That's it for now...

-- Anonymous, July 24, 2000

"We all know that Katie had basically no sexual experience before you (I think she said she had been kissed once, and it was just a peck). How did you go about dealing with that? Were you afraid of freaking her out if you moved too fast? How did you go about bringing up the subject of sex? Did you want to have sex on the first visit?"

I dealt with it by asking her if I could do something to her. Like, before our first kiss, I asked her if I could kiss her. At every step along the way, I asked her I could do what I was going to do. I would have liked to have sex the first time out there, but it wasn't a big deal. In a way, you could say it was my way of letting her know that I wasn't just coming out there to have sex with her and then split it.

"Did it even come up (no pun intended)?"

Not really.

"Katie once made the comment that if she ever had sex, it would have to be pitch black in the room. How did that go? :-)"

I convinced her otherwise. :) Even now, though, she demands that there be as little light as possible.

"While we're kind of on the subject, was (or is) it hard fighting her low self-esteem? I imagine that would cause some problems in the area of sex."

It's a little hard, but I deal with it.

"Have you given Katie any presents or anything? Has she given you anything?"

Katie's a hard person to shop for. :) Still looking for something that I think she'd like. She's let me take her teddy bear home with me so I have something that smells like her. Helps me go to sleep at night.

"What are you guys? Boyfriend/girlfriend?"

No labels, remember? :) We'll get that figured out once she goes to college and we see if it all works out. I'm confident it will.

"Does she look good naked? ;-)"

Oh yeah. :)

"You said you were nervous the first time - do you still get nervous when you visit her?"

Only on the way out there, because I never know if I'll get bumped off a flight and have to take another, and then knowing if Katie will know where I'm getting off the plane at, that sort of thing. Once I get there and I see her, it's all good.

"Any plans for long term here, or is it just a summer fling?"

Well, Katie likes the East Coast - she loves DC, and she enjoyed the time she was in this area. Of course, she was like eight years old, but... :) I see us being friends for a loooong time, and more than friends, who knows, maybe just as long. :)

"I know Katie's parents are currently unaware; are yours? What do you tell them?"

They know about her. I can tell Mom, "Just to let you know, I'm going to see Katie tomorrow," and she knows I'm flying.

"Is the distance really hard to deal with? I imagine it would be, but some people like that sort of thing."

It IS difficult. Especially since it's usually weeks in between visits.

"What's your favorite thing about Katie (and I don't mean physically -- unless you want to tell us!)? :-)"

I like it when she gets really cynical - but that's just because she talks more. :)

"Is Katie going to go visit you, or will you always be the one traveling?"

Eventually, I want her to come out here to see me. But I'm happy to do most of the flying. I don't pay for it, she would have to. If it's free, I'll take three.

Eric
