useless title: They're already saying... (Try: Emmy buzz)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

The critics and news magazine shows are already calling this the mob verses the White House. "West Wing" verses "The Sopranos". Noone is giving "ER" any chance of winning. I was watching a bunch of stuff today about the big disapiontments and NOONE mentioned Noah Wyle at all. They mention Dylan McDermont, "NYPD Blue", "Ally McBeal", and Calista Flockhart. Someone did mention Anthony Edwards. But not one mention of Noah Wyle. What's the matter with these people? Boy your character almost dies, becomes addicted to drugs and finally goes to get help and basically has the best year ever and noone gives a damn. What is wrong with these people?

Yeah, well a lot of people seem to be glossing over ER in general, now that it's not the "in " show. I have to say though that I really like West Wing, so I hope they win a lot of awards. Anyway, back to Noah, his performance just oozed with Emmy quality. Even though I'm not a big fan of Noah Wyle, he really really deserved a nomination for this year. What sort of consoles me is that ER was nominated for Best Drama, and that's the compilation of EVERYONE's work on the show. But what really pisses me off was that he was nominated last year, on of his weaker ones, but when he puts in a tremendous performance in his best year ever he isn't recognized for it.

I am really upset that Laura Innes was not even mentioned for her excellent turn as a director in Be Still My Heart. I really feel for her. She is a great actress, continually turning in solid performances, a wonderful director, but she gets no mention at all.

Laura Innes directed Be Still My Heart? Don't laugh -I didn't know that! Wow, these Emmy-people must really have been unconscious or on another planet this ER-year! But what I wanted to ask, here in Germany, we, at least me, don't know anything about those People's Choice Awards and stuff over there, but if, as someone said, ER won them all, so why is it not an "in"show any longer?

The reason why they aren't saying ne thing about Noah getting snubbed is cause he is picketing against the SAG club. Kingston and Innes got snubbed big time.

For the last time - Noah isn't AGAINST SAG. (nor is it called "the SAG club") He is *supporting* the SAG strike, and even so, it would have NOTHING to do with him not getting nominated. The strike has nothing to do with film and television, and I am sure that ALL the nominees support the strike as well! In fact, I think Amy Brenneman (who is nominated for Lead Actress) was at the same rally Noah was at if I recall correctly from a picture in People magazine.
