Still have FREE Great Pyrenees pups

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Dear Folks, We still have free Great Pyrenees pups available. (See earlier post) I had quite a few responses, but we live in SC and cannot ship them by air because of the heat. I will be going to TN and then NC to deliver pups if that will help anyone. They are friendly, furry, loving our new baby goats and need a good farm home. Please let me know.

Sure wish you lived close to Ohio! Love those dogs, and with 6 acres, and lots of 'critters', one of those pups would fit right in! Maybe next time! Joe

Joe, maybe you could find enough people on this list willing to set up a transport line to get a pup from NC to Ohio. We do this for Great Danes when a rescue in one state finds a home for the dog in another state. We then post it on our Great Dane e-mail group and volunteers drive a few hours from home one direction and then a few hours back past their home the other direction and then drop the dog off at a prearranged point to pass him on. It takes some coordinating but they do work. I could help it get through Virginia.

I would love to take one , but I'm in New york. Anyone coming this way ? I could drive some but not sure how far .By the wat anyone need a kitten ?

I can't find the original post -- is there any additional info we should have?

Thanks,

Dave, The original post is in Misc. section. Our Great Pyrenees had puppies on April 27th. The mom and dad are both registered, in good health and have no history of hip dysplasia (sp?) in their families. The pups are healthy, big balls of fur. They enjoy both my children and all of the goats, ducks, chickens, etc. we have. The pups are available to any good, loving home that has animals and room to run. They would make excellent stock guardian dogs. They are NOT for resale and they are not registered.

Joe or Colleen, I will be delivering in Knoxville, TN on Aug. 4th, which is about 4 hrs. from Cincinatti (I think). Let me know if a chain of people can be arranged.

-- Renee' Madden (RM6PACK@aol.com), July 25, 2000.

I do Australian Shepherd rescue and am located outside of Cinti. I could meet someone midway in KY. and then return to Cinti. I'm not sure where Joe is located in Ohio, but I bet it's further north.

-- Denise (jphammock@msn.com), July 25, 2000.

Patty, could we arrange a chain somehow for you in New York, and us in New Hampshire? Maybe meet in Massachusetts? By the way, Renee, how many puppies do you have left?!?

-- Kathleen Sanderson (stonycft@worldpath.net), July 25, 2000.

I am still willing to help with transport. I can go down to the North Carolina border and then travel three hours north of Washington, DC and meet people wherever they need it. I can pick up as many puppies as needed in one trip because I have a 15 passenger van with no seats in it and we have large dog crates so they will be safe to travel with me and plenty of space for them to be comfortable. (We have blankets and toys in the crates for them to play with so they will be happy campers.) The trip will have to be done on a weekend though because I can't take off from work to do it. Contact me by e-mail if it looks like you can work something out.

There is also a possibility that my husband will be going to a dog show in New Jersey in the next couple of weeks and, if so, I can plead and beg with him to take some pups with him. He would probably do it and then they can really travel in style because he would have the 34' motor home to take them in but pick up would have to be at the dog show site because of the difficulty of him trying to meet up with someone with the motor home.

If it looks like someone could meet him in New Jersey, I will check with him and see what we could work out.

I would love to take a pup .Let me know what you still have .I have e- mailed you before.I'm in N.New York.

-- Patty Gamble (fodfarms@slic.com), July 25, 2000.

I would love a pup! If the rest of the Ohio folks want to make arrangements, I am very close to Cincinnati, and have a truck with a cap on back for transport.

-- Connie (Connie@lunehaven.com), July 25, 2000.

I talked with hubby and he is willing to take puppies to the show with him in New Jersey but it is later than I thought. He will be in Augusta, New Jersey which is exit 7A of the Jersey pike on September 1, 2 and 3rd. That is a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You would have to meet him at the show site and we can give you exact directions on either of the three days and no later than Sunday morning as he will head back home sometime Sunday afternoon. Obviously the closer to Friday you are to pick them up, the easier it will be for him so he doesn't have to take care of puppies the whole weekend while still having our show great dane with him. Keep me posted by e-mail if it appears this will be a happening event.

Hi - I live just north of NY state in Quebec Canada. Great Pyrenees - I absolutely adore. Are there any puppies left. I could pick one up from a northern delivery site. We are 5-6 hours from Mass and depending where the NY farm is. We have a 25 acre homestead. By the way are the parents (that is - of the puppy) big barkers? thanks very much!

Hello,

I would be interested in one, IF, I can find someone to help transport the puppy here. And IF they have really been raised around livestock. Sorry to doubt, twice burned, has made me into a doubting thomas.... SIGH~ ~ ~ ~ I have done the guard dog thing in the past and a llama.. both times I was told were trained to guard my mini sheep, both ended up hurting my mini sheep. But at the same time I really need something that I can trust to guard my livestock. Sigh..... So let me know. Thanks..

-- Bergere (autumnhaus@aol.com), July 26, 2000.

Begere, Where are you located? Also, what breed of miniature sheep do you have. I am very interested in getting miniature sheep and so far am leaning toward Cheviots. Would like to hear your experiences with the breed you have and miniatures in general. THanks.

I will be traveling from Wheeling WV past Cleveland, Toledo etc up to MI. If any transport meets along that route, I can give a pup ride. I'll be leaving WV on Sunday, Aug 6. PS, I've done this before for rescue groups and humane societies.

I would love to have a pup, if there are any left, I too am in ohio just about nw area and could arrange to meet with megan since Im not too far off st.rt. 23 let me know thanks!!

-- David (nelson3@bright.net), July 26, 2000.

If anyone is interested in my bringing pups from WV (asuming someone can get them there)up through Ohio and into Michigan on 8/6, please make the arrangements soon. I'm leaving for WV Friday (7/28) noon and would need to at least know the basics before I leave. I can have you cotact me while I'm away but that's a last resort. this is no problem for me to transport (I'm with our local Humane Society and do this for rescue breeds), but need others to make the details of the hand-off arrangements. Good Luck, Megan

-- megan (megmcm@aol.com), July 27, 2000.

I would love to have one. I am in N central ohio and can get them from Southern Ohio to Northern ohio.

-- Gary (gws@redbird.net), July 28, 2000.

Renee' I mentioned the puppy deal to a friend of mine who lives in the country and raises sheep and goats. Not sure if you have any left but if you do, I could pick up another one and bring it back to Rhonda Haden, she also has 3 little boys. She takes excellent care of all her livestock(need to give credit to husband John too). Let me know if you still need a home for another puppy. Thanks karen
