I was just whatching "Under Control" and when Carol was carring Tess and Kate back to the lounge they looked pretty much alike and were wearing the same outfit but I still wasnt sure, are they indentical twins or not?

I might be wrong, but they almost would have to be identical, wouldn't they be? Just in case one baby was being shown, they could use either or, like most children actors that are twins. Make sense? Hope this helps.

The Olsen twins weren't identical when they played Michelle on "Full House".

Well I know in the show they are not because Carol's water broke twice so that means that they are not identical. When they are babies they look alot alike though.

Identical twins occurs when one egg splits after conception. Fraternal twins occur when two eggs are released and then fertilized by two different sperm. Identical twins do not neccisarily share a placenta or sac--all depends upon how early the egg divided. In fact, twins seem to do better when not sharing a placenta or sac. In the world of ER, unless they said what the girls were, there is no way to tell. She did make it almost full term (38 weeks?) which is excellent for a multiple pregnancy.

Aren't the Olsen twins identical? I also thought Carol's twins were fraternal. In cases where twins are on the show (like on the show 7th Heaven) they actually use sets of quadruplets. Does anyone know if they did this in the case of ER?

No, the Olsen twins are fraternal.No, they don't have quads playing Tess and Kate. For the Christmas episode they used a set of triplets and 2 sets of twins. I don't know about the others, but I'm sure they've got several sets of twins that they've used. In "Such Sweet Sorrow", one of the twins they used was a boy. I bet it was the one with the Gap cap cuz I swore that kid looked totally like a boy.
And we never knew if Tess and Kate were identical or fraternal. But they have never looked alike in the least onscreen.

Karen, they did use quadruplets on 7th Heaven. There were 3 boys and 1 girl I think. The Olsen twins are not identical.

Yes, the Olsen twins are fraternal. I read that in some book about behind the scenes of Full House.
