Jim, there's a leaking storage tank near us. A warning about the site's security certificate came up so I didn't proceed. I'm very computer illiterate, maybe you can explain the warning to me. Otherwise I found it very interesting, especially the map.

Yikes! A superfund Site, leaking storage tanks, 4 land fills.....the list goes on! Unfortunately, it does it only by zip for free

Yikes!!! My area has 28 leaking tanks!!! We've had a lot of very young kids diagnosed with brain cancer in the past year in an area about 10 miles away. After some checking, it became known that a creek and a school playground were heavily contaminated due to leaking tanks. I'm grateful for the info, Jim. I've wondered how I would Know if my future site would be safe. Thanks, Cathy in N.Y.

I e-mailed our local news station about the site. they did a little blurb on the evening news about it. i felt more people needed to know. unfortunately the site didn't say how to find out more about what was leaking and what we could do about it.

Unfortunately, I know about as much about the site as you all do. In the little digging I did concerning the 18 leaking tanks near me! I discovered most to be older fuel storage tanks of gas stations. They are inspected periodically by the EPA and believe it or not, most leak. Whether the site induces a bit of panic by siting so many leaking underground sites to encourage buying their detailed list is a very strong possibility. But still, it is worth checking into.

I was given the site by a co-worker and thought I'd pass it on to you all.

Thanks for sharing that site, I am SO happy to be drinking the filtered water. Nothing near my home, but the whole twon I work in seems to be a leaking tank. Yummy!

I carefully chose my home and this web site makes me feel good about my decision. Although we hav problems here at least toxic sites are not one of those problems. Thank you for the information. This type of info is one of the reasons I love this forum.

I am a bit confused. I see where it gives the number of hazardous areas, but does it tell specifically what the place is?

Wow! 22 leaking storage tanks... I also found out that the house I am considering making an offer on has none!

Very useful info.... cool site

thanks,
