B&W cold light VC tube

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

Does anybody know anything about changing my old Zone VI stablized cold light tube, which was good for graded paper, to a new cold light tube for VC paper? The head is for a Beseler 45 MXT. I'd appreciate knowledgable info. Thank you kindly, paul

Paul,

Apparently you can swap out the old tube for a newer V54 tube, which is supposed to be color balanced for printing on variable contrast papers with the normal filter set. This can be obtained from Aristo (www.aristogrid.com) for approximately $95. Keep in mind, I haven't done this myself yet so I'm passing this information along without having actually tried it. Best of luck. Daniel

Paul,

Some time back I dropped my Beseler 45 Zone VI/Aristo cold light unit when moving it. The unit's original bulb/tube broke. I replaced it myself with the newer Aristo tube Daniel mentioned. Bought it directly from Aristo. It was a very straightforward installation/repair, requiring no special tools or electrical skills. Works well with the VC papers. Sergio.
