My grandmother was named (I think) Minnie Brooks, married to William Lee Brooks. My father was their son William Brice Brooks, known as Brice. My grandparents owned a farm near Oakboro, about a quarter section I believe. Minnie was short, had a more or less olive complexion. My family told me my grandmother was part Cherokee and Minnie gave me a family tree, which I'm sorry to have lost in the intervening years. I recall Minnie's Indian connection was in a neighboring county (name unrecalled).
