Where was the old Olympic Swimming Club? Downtown or on Sloat Blvd near the Zoo? I have been given two differing opinions!

Helen,

The pool was located at the downtown Olympic Club. Whoever told you it was on Sloat Boulevard was probably thinking of the now-buried Fleishacker Pool adjacent to the zoo and located at the corner of the Great Highway and Sloat. It was a public facility, though, and light years away from the Olympic Club in terms of ambience.

The famous (for it's day) salt water tank was at the Post Street downtown location. The sf50 website has a nice article about it, iirc.

The other Olympic Club location, on Skyline Blvd...up the hill a bit from Sloat Blvd., has been there since the 1920's, and they also have a swimming pool.
