Story - Feeding Pond Fish

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Seems this farmer had a dock out into his pond. He sunk a metal pole beside the dock and when it came feeding time he would taps on this pole with another one to let the fish know it was feeding time. When he threw out the feed the water would boil. When someone new was swimming around the dock area he would casually tap on the pipe, throw in feed and when the water boiled with fish he would yell, "Paranahas, paranahas, paranahas." (And yes, I know spelling is not one of my fortes.)

Thanks for the chuckle, I'll try to remember the one about the bear hunt for you.

Howdy from the Mid West... I've been raising fish for 30yrs. ~REMEMBER ONE THING~ "Don't Over Feed the Fishes" Unless your pond is completely sterile of biological life, they will thrive from natural occuring life which forms in all outdoor aquaria... Fish are always looking for a meal and they will find it.... Fishes doing some of the Pest Patrol is good for the whole biologic health of the pond... Get them on a routine feeding schedule, and in a few weeks they will be waiting for you at their feeding area.... I feed them well in the morning, and less in the evening... Insects are a favored food of all fish, and they seem to be most available in the evening hours... "Have a Good Day" and "Happy Fishing"
