My father got a start of mill worms in his barn several years ago when he bought oats from a local farmer. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of them - preferably in a non-toxic manner. Does any one know if D.E. would work on them? He has had this problem for several years now. I'd like to help him solve it before he uses serious chemicals to kill them. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!!!

Try putting a bunch of chickens in the barn as they tend to eat most bugs. I would remove any feed (or store in barrels or cans that can keep animals out) first. A piglet or two can also help in addition to the chickens. They might root for some of the bugs (but mostly dropped feed), but the rooting will turn up more bugs for the birds to eat. It might take you some time this way, but you can at least butcher the animals.
