Platt had five years in Italy and remains the second highest British goalscorer in Serie A with 41 in 99 games.Who was the highest?

Well it certainly wasn't Gazza! Was it John Charles by any chance? Denis Law and Gerry Hitchins did OK over there, but I don't believe they scored a pile of goals.
There was also a Welshman with an Italian name (and presumably an Italian parent) who played for Italy about 10 years ago, and who scored a good number of goals in Serie A, but I can't recall his name.

We all know it wasn't Ian Rush! Can you ever believe that Juventus bought him?

Well Rushie had a damned good scoring record with Liverpool, Bobby, so I can certainly see Juventus thinking he could do it for them.I was surprised to see how good Platt's record was - very few Brits have excelled in Italy. John Charles was probably the outstanding Brit to have played in Serie A, but that was a long time ago.
Come on DB, what's the answer?

All I know is the info I posted above but I reckon this is bollocks. Platty played for a while for Bari who were in Serie B in my opinion and he may have scored a few for them in their 2nd div. Then possibly playing a couple of years in Serie A with Sampdoria and Juve.
