Yes.

I agree!! Deb could possibly get the Chief Resident position over Carter, which might put a wedge in their friendship. But she needs to continue to be supportive of Carter, because he's going to need a lot of support when he returns. I think she has been a good friend to him and I would like to see her continue to reach out to Carter. I also hope the writers continue to have Malucci pursue her. As much as a like Carter & Malucci, I do love to watch her upstage them!

Personally, I would love if they used Jing-Mei as a love interest for Carter...but I doubt that will ever happen. TPTB wouldn't do that, I dont think.

Her chacter will be back next season. I don't think Chen has proven to be a better Dr. than Carter or that she has upstaged him. I think they are about equal in abilities. Though we have really not seen Chen in action much so we really don't know how she would handle a big crisi like situation like we have with Carter din in "Exodus" for example. Personally , I would love to see Chen get too cocky and as a result mess up and get in trouble. I would have preferred her character to leave over the summer, but that is not going to happen. I hope she does not get a large amount of screen and never get her involved with Carter romantically.

Not a big Chen fan, are ya Deb? LOL! Oh well, I'm not ashamed to say I think she's great! She did upstage Carter in "Family Matters" when she correctly diagnosed the body lice patient - Carter thought the patient was mental and called psyche. I loved Dr.Meyer's line: "But thanks for thinking of us Carter!" and afterwards, Chen telling Yosh: "It's good to be back!" Too funny!!

Finally people are starting to like Deb! Yea! Like I've said before, if it hadn't have been for Deb realizing that something was going on with Carter, he may still be doing bad. Yes Abby caught him but would Mark have believed her if Deb had never said anything to him?

Well Carter tricked Chen with the xrays and her patient. Carter came up with the idea about using the vacuum cleaner to save that patient when they had no water pressure. I think Carter has upstaged Chen as well. I agree that Chen has not proven to be a better Dr. than Carter. Chen has shown this season that she has strength and weaknesses just like the other characters and that she has a long way to go to be a great Dr. Mark was certainly not impressed with Chen/Malucci in "Allin the Family". I also think it is possible that Chen could mess up in a hectic situation. WE really don't know. I also think that Carter would have still gotten help even if Chen had not shown concern for Carter. I personally could do without Chen too. I really don't think she adds too much to the show. There are too many characters and besides Cleo she would be on mu must go list.

I was not implying in my previous post that Carter was necessarily a better Dr. than Chen. I think they are both good ER drs who show promise to be even better Drs. I don't think either one holds an advantage over the other . They both have strengths and differences. They have different personalities and bed side manners. I prefer Carter over Chen as a character. However as docs based on what we have seen so far , I think they are equals. I'm just more cinfident in Carter's abilities because I have seen ihim in action for much longer than Chen. I have seen him handle chaotic situations well as a Dr. WE have seen him grow and mature as a Dr. over the years. I have just not seen enough of Chen to know whether she could handle certain situations or not. During season six , they highlighted her weaknesses just as much as her strengths.

Geez! I am not saying Chen is a better doctor than Carter. My above comments were not meant to be a slight against Carter. He is my fave character on the show, as a matter of fact. I agree both doctors are equally talented. It would be interesting to watch both vie for the Chief Resident position; however, considering Carter's behavior in Season 6, it seems more realistic for Chen to get the promotion. It's disappointing to see such a harsh attitute by fans towards Jing- Mei, who has been the most supportive colleague to Dr.Carter since his attack. To each his/her own, I suppose. Either way, Deb rules! Now rant away....(ducking rotten tomatoes as I type)

Two words: Romano + Chen... I just think that would be a great story line..

Oh, she'll get a storyline next season... I expect many dropped jaws.

-- JLS (ewwhatevr@aol.com), August 12, 2000.

JLS- Why do you say that? Do you know something that we don't?

-- Cammie (rmaelhorn@home.com), August 12, 2000.

Lets just say it should be very interesting...

-- JLS (ewwhatevr@aol.com), August 13, 2000.

JLS- come on, why can't you tell us? pleaseee? does it relate to love or job?

-- anna selasky (nc3@postmark.net), August 13, 2000.

Yeah JLS, tell us! If you don't want to ruin the suprise for people who may not want to know then just start a new thread and put spoilers as part of the heading then noone will get upset about it. So won't you tell us please?

-- Cammie (rmaelhorn@home.com), August 13, 2000.

JLS, please don't say you have a secret than refuse to tell. I like Cammie's idea of starting a new thread. Come on--inquiring minds want to know.

Back to Brenda's post about the X-rays. Carter was using that to get back at Chen for paging him while he was in the john. (no pun intended) And THAT was for Carter's forcing the issue of the Parkinson's patient getting admitted. They were going back and forth all episode and I LOVED IT!!

I think Carter's met his match. (And no, I don't think they should necessarily get involved!)

JLS, post the spoiler please!!!

-- S. Trelles (trelles@ix.netcom.com), August 15, 2000.

I agree that Carter has met his match. I'm not sure if I want him to get involved with her (I still wish he could have been with Anna!), but I do think they have the makings for a very close friendship. It could be like a Mark/Susan thing where they are friends, but there is always sexual tension bubbling beneath the surface. Speaking of Susan, I wish she would come back. Now there is a woman for Carter!
