What other interests do you have?

Just so that we know a little more about each other, what other interests/hobbies do any of you have?

Mine include first and foremost FOOTBALL!!!!! I am a true Geordie - and it is in my blood. On the few occasions when there is a conflict of interests dog show v NUFC, the later invariably wins. The other BBs on here that I subscribe to is the Unofficial NUFC one - it is a hoot!

I share an interest in motor sport too, especially Superbikes, and go to all the big meetings with my husband.

I get a huge amount of pleasure from reading. The end of a perfect day for me is a good book and a big mug of coffee in bed. I read mostly non-fiction, very varied taste, though I particularly like travel books. Usually have something heavy and serious on the go too, - invariably a history book of some sort.

I love gardening, am a serious arctophile, and also would not be able to get through the day without my fix of Radio 4!(:o)

Roz - couldn't agree more about the book and a cup of coffee, preferably snuggled up in bed !! I am an avid reader and will read anything I can get my hands on, and also enjoy the cinema greatly!! Once upon a time I was very into painting , and this is something I keep trying to make more time for but never manage!! One day soon I will - I am developing an interest in gardening - we only got round to actualy getting anything done with ours maybe two years ago, and James is now fanatical about cutting the grass every week at this time of the year!! He is also insisting in a pond of some sort but I am afraid the idea of constantly fishng soaking wet american cockers out of a 'water feature' has put that idea on hold for a while!!

Connemara Ponies - that is my other and pehaps my biggest passion. I kept them for my boys, who competed them in eventing, show jumping, dressage, driving and showing in hand. We bred some lovely foals and I miss them badly, but with a son living close to Seattle, and the middle one in a band, and the youngest trying to make his way in his career we are not likely to have any ponies for a while, I can only hope that at some stage I will become a Grandma and will be able to indulge myself again under the guise that a child needs a pony - doesn't he/she?

Stephanie, I would love to be able to paint - particularly portraits. I do play around with water colours and pastels, but not nearly often enough, and in a very amateur fashion. I also love embroidery. But, and this is a very big `but`, I am finding there just aren`t enough hours in the day to do everything I`d like. I bet I`m not alone there though!

Gloria, I have a little theory that a lot of people who breed dogs are actually frustrated horse breeders. How lucky you are that you manage to do both! I adore horses, I think they are the most aesthetically pleasing of all animals. When my daughter was younger she had a very pretty Welsh Section A, who was a demon and totally unsuitably. We then had a Section B who was adoreable with the sweetest of natures. Unfortunately, by then we had moved, and although the property has a stable etc., the actual road we live on is lethal so riding out was hazardous to say the least.

BTW the ASTC Specialty is in Seattle the year after next - are you tempted?(:o)
