I'm sure that with a 67.500 capacity Man U will end up with the biggest atendance at the end of the season and we having the second largest ground will have the second highest. .... One thing that puzzles me though, is Why are villa rebiulding one of there stands to give them a higher capacity when they can't normaly get crowds above 30.000 ? Whats the point spending millions on a bigger stand when they can't sell all there tickets in the old size stadium?

Rik - to get England and big Cup games. It's worked - even without a guarantee that the work on the Trinity Road stand will be finished in time, the FA has given them the next England game after the Germany game at Wembley and I believe Anfield has got the one after that.

If nee bugger turns out for most of your home games, but 40,000 glory hunters suddenly develop an interest when you play Arsenal, Newcastle or Chelsea, it probably pays to have as many seats as possible for when they do fancy coming along as it's the only income you'll see all season.

Alternatively, they can just give more tickets to the away fans! :-)

I have to say this business of England venues irks me.
The SOL, Anfield, bloody Villa Park - and presumably OT will be next in line.

I think I'm correct in saying the last time a full England international was played at SJP was back in the 50's when Wor Jackie played (v Wales?) in front of over 60,000.

What the hell do we have to do get our name on the list again?

Clarky - it irks me that Anfield and Villa Park are getting games before we get one. Both are smaller and less accessible than SJP (which is about a ten minute walk from the city station). We haven't even had any under 21s games while the likes of Upton Park and Craven Cottage and the bloody Dell have have had games. I gather that we may get the home Greece game - would be nice to see Dabs playing for Greece at SJP. We might even see Georgiadis back. I'm not sure when this game is, though - may even be next season. Any reason we can't get the Worthington Cup Final or a big Cup game? Not that I can see.

ps. Calrk - Freddy Shepherd's comments about the FA choosing Wales for the Cup Final might not have gone down well at Lancaster Gate....

Aren't the 2 after Jormany less significant - I believe KK has kept the really important ones for SJP and OT when he will need the noise. Albania & Greece hmmmm.

I'd quite like us to get Greece at SJP for Dabs and to a lesser extent Georgiadis. Actually, you can see it now, Dabs takes on Michael Owen, Owen scores three in a space of ten minutes and rubs his hands together with glee. Will be like deja vu. Only we'll be glad for a change. I think Villa are getting Finland and Anfield are getting a friendly. So it would make sense that we'd get Greece or Albania.
