The outage affected the news cooperative's national audio
networks; text wires that bring news and specialized
information to radio and television stations; and some
newspapers that receive AP Basic, a news delivery system
for smaller papers. New York City-based broadcast networks,
most of the city's television and radio stations, and some
stations elsewhere in the country were not affected.
