greenspun.com : LUSENET : Genealogy Queries for Stanly County, North Carolina : One Thread

We are looking for information on the Richard Smith Family of Stanly County. He was listed in the 1850 Census of Stanly County. He was born about 1804. We are most interested to learn more about this family as we descend from Richard's son Davidson who had moved to Anson County by 1858 for this is the year Davidson married Martha Lampley in Anson County. Davidson died in Anson County around 1900. A descendant of Davidson Smith is Lendell Smith 1218 Heritage Drive Albermarle,NC 28001. Telephone #704-982-7537. He would appreciate hearing from anyone researching this family.

How delighted I was to see your note of inquiry on Davidson Smith. You have given me a long sought after answer. I believe my info. will help Mr. Lendell Smith. David Alexander Smith was born in 1835 in Stanly County. He married a Martha Lampley from Anson County. They had 3 children: twins William Addison and Charles W.and a daughter Cornelia who married a Tomlinson then a Howard. Wm. is burried at Red Hill Bap.in Anson Cty., Charles W. in Bethel Meth. near Wadesboro and "Nealie" I don't know. My great grandfather was William Addison, and my grandfather was Thomas Kenneth Smith who lived near Wightman Church. I have tried so many times to get a reference to David Alexander's father. Maybe I've come upon somthing with your reference to Richard. I have seen his name often but didn't make the connection. Several questions from me. Any idea where D.A. or Richard is buried? Martha is supposedly buried at Bethel Meth., but I have not found her tombstone (or it is illegible). Any background on the Lampleys or where Richard might have been born? I'll hope to hear from you.
