Gun Laws

If I live in one state, and want to go hunting with friends in another, do I need to get a licence in that state first? Do I need a special licence to carry the guns through other states? Amy lives in Colorado, which is at least a four day trip driving, so getting a licence first would be a pain, but I wouldn't want to give "them" any reason to confiscate them. J.

J., You shouldn't need a license to transport them but you will need a license to hunt in the other state. There aare some precautions to take though. Keep all firearms in cases, preferrably as far from you as you can and don't keep your ammo next to the firearm. In Ca, when I lived there, if you had a 12 guage shot sitting on the case of a 30.30 the 30.30 was considered loaded. Dumb as paint, but their law nonetheless.

J: Hopefully your friend in Colorado has given you the scoop on hunting here. Some of the license regs changed this year, and some hunts are "draw" only--you had to apply in April and be drawn for a license, there are no over the counter sales for some animal hunts. I think birds are still open for over the counter sales though, if that is what you are coming for. If you need any info, feel free to email me privately. Jan

J., how far from Colorado are you?!? My husband can make it clear across the country, coast to coast, in four long days of driving! With two of us, we could do it in a little less, if we had to. He once went with a friend from Tacoma, WA (stationed at McChord AFB there) to Grand Junction, CO, went fishing with friends up on the mesa, and back to work at the AFB, in a long weekend (four days, I think). His boss didn't believe they'd really gone that far until they showed him pictures of the fishing trip!

I'm in Maine. I drove out a couple of years ago, and it took me four days. Well, I did make a few sight seeing stops, but I don't think I could drive straight through without a few detours!!

Go with "Glorious Leader"! Don't ask, don't tell! Realistically, I have never been stopped, and travel through other states with my firearms on my way to hunt in another state. I believe most law enforcement officials are pretty much on our side, except for the dyke bitch and her minions, who refuse to prosecute criminals, and instead target us law abiding folks to further their desire to disarm the general popuylace in preparation for Socialism! WHOA! Keyboard got away from me! I didn't say ANY of those things! It must have been Bill Gates control over my keyboard! Honest, BATF!! I'm a meek liberal sociocrat. Honest. (Do not visit after dark). He who gets government goodies gives up all rights. I want the gov't to just leave me alone. Except, of course, for our beloved "jackbooted" BATF.

". . . the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." from U.S. Constitution; 2nd Amendment.

You said it, Brad. J., you could call the State Highway Patrol in each state and they could give you the specifics.

J. My wife and I have traveled thru 35 states. We carried our firearms. Unless you have a vehicle that waves a red flag at the LEA you should be fine. A precausion might be: Remove the bolt from bolt- action rifels, take down the shot gun, put a plastic tie on the lever, But hide well the hand gun. REMEMBER FRIENDS "The only gun that will save you Is the one on you when sh*t happens"

"When guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns." There is a lot to think about in that bumper sticker. Especially since we know who the outlaws are. Or should we call them "abovelaws"? "shall not be infringed." pretty clear and to the point. Why is it that there is so much debate on this issue?
