(BTW, Kritter, we need a poetry and whimsy category).
In redwood forest
Peace is a sound that's tactile
Reaching to the soul.
.
The rainforest breathes
An immense being of green
That pulses with life.
.
These forest depths are
A cathedral made by God
Green roofed gold stillness.
.
The land calls to me
Come off your safe tame highway
Join our wild freedom!

Tricia, that was absolutely terrific! I don't wear hats so I will take my red socks off (briefly) in your honour - I hope this is acceptable, and anyway, it's the thought that counts :)

So that's where they get to?!!! :-).
Silent cathedral
Huge pillars reaching skyward
Redwood forest peace.

The splendor of fall...
Bright red, orange and yellow.

I second Kritter's applause!!Here're some from a weekend retreat we just had (remember we get cold weather much earlier here than y'all do)!
.
Wind sings in the trees / Empty branches rub and groan / Sadly harmonize.
.
Grey skies hide sun's warmth / Whitecaps ruffle dull lake's peace / Winter's touch in wind.
.
White tree trunks gleaming / Bright blue skies with soft white clouds / Lake mirrors glory.
