#1. Poor old Bobby Knight-FIRED! And he won't have a paycheck after the end of 2002! Maybe we should've "passed the hat" for the docile gentleman. Personally, I think I.U. should've fired him the FIRST time he threw a tantrum. One word describes the reason they didn't--GREED! He could win games and that's the bottom line. When the heat got too close to'm they decided to unload'm to save their own butts. Seems the 3 R's, have been forgotten or replaced by the game of bball. I HATE the game and wouldn't waste a moment of my precious time watchin, listening and most definately not attending a game. It also seems those with an athletic scholarship are looked upon with great awe while those "eggheads" are looked upon with disgust and as being "a little warped". Of course-a Rhoades scholar just ain't too fine--ie: slick willie. "I didn't inhale", "I never had s-- with that woman" and the best of all-what is "is"! Boy, how did I get off Bob Knight and onto slick willie? Well, anyhow #2. We went to a fall festival today to watch/hear friends in a Gospel group perform. They had old tractors there also. Betcha y'all didn't know a tractor was made after me! Yep, the Gibson! Rite smart little dude without a steering wheel! Has a stick to steer it and a 6 hp. engine. I'd give a hind leg for one of'm. Oh yes, one last thing. Indiana University at Bloomington are quickly lookin for a replacement for Bobby Knight. Rekon they'd consider me? Naw, guess not-I'm too calm!!!! Matt. 24:44

I got to tell you, Hoot - Hubby was madder than an old wet hen over Bobby Knight's firing! Came upstairs ranting and raving and foaming at the mouth!

Uhh - Did I mention that he was ranting and raving because the network had broken into his truck race that he hardly ever gets to watch with a "special news bulliten" about the firing and he missed part of the race?! We agree that the antics should have been put paid to a long time ago - too bad that he gets to draw any money at all. I personally enjoy the game of basketball - as played by my daughter's high school friends. (Also football, tennis, softball, etc... - by kids), but I wouldn't give you a nickle to watch a college or pro game. Pop snorts about grown men being paid millions of dollars to play kids games, but we all do watch racin'. Course now, you all know that stock car racing and it's offspring came about from the old moonshiners and rum runners trying to outrun the Revenuers during prohibition, don't you? More than a few of those in my family tree, if you shake the branches hard enough!!

Hoot, I agree. Bout' time. I live a short way from B-Town & IU and Graduated form IU and I'm still glad. It's unfortunate he was such an overbearing jerk. He did a tremendous amout of charity work around S IN, donated a huge amout of time and money to various causes, had a great graduation % , and enforced standards of behaviour amoung his players that are probably unmatched. Talk about a contradiction. He just couldn't control his self or his emotions. I've always had mixed emotions about him - love/hate. I think he lacks The Lord in his life. Think what a guy w/ his drive could do if directed into the Lords work instead of the "Religion" of B-Ball. Well, guess I know what the topic of conversation will be tomorrow at work.

Have (almost) no idea who this Knight fellow is... but Hoots comment about the tractor with no steering wheel reminded me of a poster I saw recently in a local Amish shed where they weave rugs. The sign said FOR SALE, Ford tractor. No seat, no steering wheel. For the farmer who lost his ass and doesnt know which way to turn.

I, of course, pretended to blush. But the Amish guys thought it was a-- -hoot. (Did I say that?)

John, I too live close to B-town, and it WAS the topic of conversation at work, esp. in the lunch room, where 3/4ths of the teachers are graduates of IU. I made sure I listened to all the radio stories, sos as to keep up with my end of the conversation! And that is JUST what I told one of my sons yesterday morning....Mr. Knight needs the Lord. I never did appreciate the guy, either--too violent; what is the verse? "Out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaketh."
