Which episode did Julianna Margulies submit to the Emmy Panel

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

After watching the Emmys, I have to wonder which episode Julianna Margulies submitted to the Emmy panel. Conventional wisdom would say "Great Expectations", but she lost. Is it possible that she submitted another episode, like "Such Sweet Sorrow". I've been searching all of the Emmy sites, and I've come up empty handed. By the way I am a Sela Ward fan, so please nobody bash her. She is a two time Emmy winner and that should speak volumes about her acting ability.

I've heard it was "Great Expectations". I know she's very proud of that piece of work, so I'd imagine its the one she'd pick as well.

As for Sela Ward, I was screaming every profanity I knew at the TV. And as for Sela's previous Emmy speaking "volumes about her acting ability"...Julianna also has an Emmy from 1995. And if her work in "The Mists Of Avalon" is as good as I'd imagine it'd be, she'll probably be nominated for lead actress in a miniseries next year.

Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers for her for the Golden Globes, SAGs, People's Choice, TV Guide Awards, etc.

Yeah, it was "Great Expectations". I still can't believe she lost eitheir. JLS, when are The Golden Globes and the People's Choice Awards?

I don't want to open a whole new thread, so about the emmys, did anyone see anyone else there from ER? I like the Golden Globes better because they're all seated around the tables. I didn't see all of it, but I was disappointed that she didn't win, I was almost thinking she really would, but I couldn't tell who was sitting next to her. I also enjoyed them showing the "finally together" scenes and including Doug and Carol's reunion, and during the song skit, he included GC's surprise appearance. Also, did ER WIN for ANYTHING!?!? I would really like to see why this Sopranos is so great, but then, a lot of people don't even see it, considering it's on HBO. I can understand why West WIng won so much, but I still missed seeing more of ER.

Yes - Julianna did submit "Great Expectations" for the EMMY panel. And well she should have. That *was* the best work she did all of last season by far. I am extremely disappointed she didn't win and not to take away from Sela Ward is a fine actress too, but I had hoped they would have picked Julianna. Although "SSS" was good it was a bit too sentimental (But I loved it because I am/was a huge D/C fan) However the award is based on talent than Jules still made the right choice even if she lost. I feel sorry for her but I know she will continue to do great work no matter what she does. She is a fine actress and I wish her all the best.

I was *very* disappointed last night. I couldn't believe it that Julianna Margulies didn't win! (Nothing against Sela, BTW, I think she's a great actress! I just expected Julianna to win.)

I saw Erik Palladino. They interviewed him inside on the way to his seat. I'm not too sure how I feel about "Dr. Dave's" blond 'do. :o)

I think that Dr. Dave's new "do" is very cute. Everytime they showed the audience I was scanning for the ER charecters. I was also very dissapointed not to see anyone! I did see Ming Na in a photo on Yahoo this morning and she looks very pregnant already. I don't know the number of months, but the belly is definately there!

I saw Erik Palladino, Laura Innes, Ming-Na, and Alex Kingston in pre- show coverage. I never saw the actual "ER" section, but noticed John Wells was sitting with the West Wing crowd. Julianna was sitting with her boyfriend, Ron in the front row next to Cameron Manheim.

I wasn't surprised Julianna didn't win--Sela Ward was hyped big time. I like Sela, just not her show. I also heard her tape was considered exceptionally strong, whatever that means. Julianna will have more awards in her future--Tonys, Emmys, etc. Her future is bright.

Elaine, ER did win an Emmy for something like best single camera editing for "AITF." I was hoping Julianna would win, too, but I didn't put much faith in it. The Emmys are all about who has the hype, and right now those shows are The Sopranos and The West Wing. I don't care much for the Emmys anyway. I'm like JLS -- I prefer the other awards shows. (Hopefully, ER, Julianna, and especially Noah will fair better in those.)

I saw a brief shot of Goran Visjnic out on the carpet. No sign of Noah Wyle, Eriq LaSalle or Anthony Edwards (I know, I know, Edwards said he wasn't going because Noah didn't get nominated).

Oh yeah - Michael Michele was also there.

Someone above asked when the Golden Globes are...I didn't see a direct response (so hope I'm not duplicating)...they're in January or February, before the Oscars (which are at the end of March).

I actually was kind of satisfied with the Emmy, though ER didn't come away with any major awards (they did receive the one mentioned above, for single camera action in AITF, which I'm assuming was for that great shot near the beginning!). Mostly I was extremely happy that non-HBO shows (i.e. not The Sopranos or Sex and the City) won the major categories for series and acting. And that another John Wells show did so well in its first year. I was extremely surprised that Sela Ward won, though I never thought JM would. I'd have put money on the late Nancy Marchand from The Sopranos, if for no other reason than a nod of sympathetic respect. I think she won last year though so I'm glad someone else did this year.

I think Nancy Marchand was up for supporting actress which Allison JAnmey from the West Wing won. I was really not too surprised that Julianna did not win either. On some opinion poles I saw she was way down on the list of who the people thought should win (Edie Falco from the Sopranos was always at the top).

-- amanda (amanda.rehm@home.com), September 12, 2000.

Which polls were you looking at? The ones I've seen and the one they showed during the pre-show all showed Julianna was the top choice.

-- JLS (ewwhatevr@aol.com), September 12, 2000.

I can't remember where I found some of the polls... I will see what I can come up with and let you know. I know one of them was at mrshowbiz.com and it had Edie Falco at like 45% and Julianna at something like 10% of the votes. None that I saw had Sela Ward winning that is for sure!

-- amanda (amanda.rehm@home.com), September 13, 2000.

I posted this already before somewhere, but my local newspaper was betting on JM to win too, which surprised me (happily of course!). They were saying that she gave an "emotional and most human portrayal this year". SOme would have mixed feelings on this I guess over the last season, but I was happy to hear they thought she'd win it. I WAS disappointed she didn't win, I understand that new shows come on w/ new and fresh ideas that attract attention, but then they forget about the old ones, that are also doing good work. JMHO, maybe I'm just too biased.

Thanks for the correction, Amanda.
