Romance in the ER (possible spoilers but highly unlikely)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Have you noticed how there always seems to be about three couples going about the ER at one time (I mean God knows how many ex's Elizabeth or Carter will have walking about County General in a couple of seasons)

Anyway it's pretty obvious Mark's going to stay with Elizabeth. Carter will end up with either Abby or Deb and Dave will get the one that Carter doesn't. But Luka and Kerry....even I don't want to see that one coming!

*SPOILER* * * * * * * I was watching the emmy pre-show last night and they interviewed Laura Innes and she said that some juicy stuff will happen with Kerry this season. She wouldn't say what though.

Stepahie- your predictions may be right. BTW- I saw a picture of Ming- Na on Yahoo this morning and she looks like she's maybe 4 or 5 months pregnant.

-- Cammie (rmaelhorn@home.com), September 11, 2000.

Cammie- Where did you see the picture of Ming-Na? I 'd like to see it to. Is it on the Web?

-- Amy (forest_gurl@hotmail.com), September 11, 2000.

Go to www.yahoo.com. Click on news then click on pictures. It should still be there I think on eitheir page 6, 7, or 8. I forgot which one.

-- Cammie (rmaelhorn@home.com), September 11, 2000.

Wow! She sure does look pregnant. Alex doesn't at all though.

-- Joanne (bucklind@hotmail.com), September 11, 2000.

I couldn't find it. What was the exact web address?

-- Jennifer (sjcpuma@yahoo.com), September 11, 2000.

My computer keeps screwing up today so I can't seem get to it now but I think JLS might know it since she put the address down over at the WB Message Boards under the thread Alex and Ming-na.

-- Cammie (rmaelhorn@home.com), September 11, 2000.

I looked at the picture and Ming-Na is DEFINITELY pregnant. The exact addy is: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/p/nm/20000911/en/imdf90378.html

-- Stephanie (ERGirl22@aol.com), September 11, 2000.

Um, actually the last set of numbers of the addy are 90278 not 90378. DOn't worry Steph. We all make mistakes.

-- Andie (er@now.com), September 11, 2000.

http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/p/nm/20000911/en/imdf90278.html

Alex isn't showing in the least bit. They both look fabulous anyway.

-- JLS (ewwhatevr@aol.com), September 11, 2000.

Thanks cammie and everyone else who put the address up. Ming-na is truly pregnant. I was never truly sure about that, I thought that it might just be a rumor, but that picture definatly proves it. She must 5-6 months along by now. Wouldn't that mean that she might have been pregnant during May Day? Anyway both her and Alex looked great, but the dress I liked the most from the ER stars was Julianna's.

I heard Alex Kingston is due in March, so she'd only be about 3 months along now.

-- S. Trelles (trelles@ix.netcom.com), September 11, 2000.

Based on the photo that may be our reason for why the writers have chosen to write Ming-Na's pregnancy in. Can you imagine trying to hide her when she is a few more months along. I think it would be tougher than with Alex's character.

-- Emma (webbef@hotmail.com), September 14, 2000.

I read in a magazine recently (a reliable one) that - get this! - Liz and Mark break up! Kerry gets hot and steamy with....CARTER!!!! Cleo and Peter stay together. Deb and Luka become an item and Dave and Abby are a couple.

-- Nicie Mills (bubbles_n_fun@hotmail.com), September 14, 2000.

Nicie, what magazine did you find this from? Because according to a spoiler from another reliable source on another thread a while back Mark and Liz get engaged. I don't know about the other rumors there but I think that the one about Liz and Mark are false IMO.

-- Cammie (rmaelhorn@home.com), September 14, 2000.

I don't believe any spoilers that say that ALL of those people are getting together, but those of you who have read this board for awhile might know how disturbed I'd be to see Carter and Kerry. I also heard a rumor that ER was NOT going to continue for an eighth season. A friend told me this who visited NBC studios and supposedly the guide announced that this was their last year, but I don't believe it, so I didn't open a new thread. I think my friend knows how much I like the show and was just teasing me.

-- Elaine (mrsclooney78@hotmail.com), September 14, 2000.

I don't think that this is ER last season. Anthony Edwards, Noah Wyle and Eric La Salle all have contracts until 2002. I also heard that NBC has paid a huge amount of money to have ER until 2004. As for all the spoiler information it's just that spoilers. It's fun to speculate but nothing is set in stone until we see the season premier.

-- Emma (webbef@hotmail.com), September 15, 2000.

Elaine, I don't believe all of those rumors either. If all of those people hooked up, ER would be like a soap opera. I don't want to see any of those rumors come true. Also, I think your friend was pulling your leg. After all, NBC renewed ER for four more years.

I think people dating at work is very realistic. It's where people spend most of their time so it makes sense that couples find each other at work. BTW, my husband and I met at work. I know at least 6 other married couples who work at the same place I do.

Also, I think it's very reasonable that Deb and Elizabeth could be pregnant at the same time.

I know this isn't a popular belief but I would love to see Kerry and Carter together. He tends to date older women so I don't think it's a stretch. She may be hard as a boss but she's also caring. She's the only one who really made any real attempt to help Carter after the stabbing. I think their personalities fit nicely.

I like Abby but I don't think she and Carter belong together. I'd rather see her with Luka. Speaking of Abby, I hope they bring her character back to being more like she was when she was Carol's nurse than in the last season. She was so confident and capable as Carol's nurse but the total opposite last season.

Mark and Elizabeth need to get married. Feb sweeps?

I want to see more of Peter with Reese. I like it when he plays daddy. I'd also like to see more of him with Carter -- as a support person.

TPTB have perfected Romano's character. He's a complete by-the-book jerk but we see glimpses of a soft side (his dog, Lucy). I'd love to see a little of the soft side when Carter returns but I don't think we're going to.

BTW, Love this web site!

-- Cindy (rothhaas@erols.com), September 15, 2000.

There are many Carter/Kerry fans out there. I would love to see them eventually get together. It would be quite believable and wonderful to me. I want to at least see Kerry be very supportive of Carter. I do not want to see Mark/Corday get hitched. There was too much empasis on Mark's personal life last season. Enough is enough. Let Mark's personal life take a backburner the next year or so. I don't mind it if Abby/Luka get close. The spoilers sound like there will be plenty of Abby this season. I hope they don't go overboard with it. I think we should see more of Kerry this season.

-- Brenda (jckwfan@aol.com), September 15, 2000.

I have said this before, but I agree w/ Cindy...it may seem soap opera-ish, but it *is* very realistic for people at work to get together...they're the people you spend every day w/...I've dated a few people from work, more so than from anywhere else. Also, it makes things more interesting, to sit back and watch and say, "OMG, *they* are getting together!?" Whether you like the pairing or not, audiences enjoy watching that, IMO. Some don't.

-- Elaine (mrsclooney78@hotmail.com), September 15, 2000.

I like Carter and Kerry together too. Hey maybe he'll find out for us what happend to her leg...

-- Ina (ifelsch@yahoo.com), September 15, 2000.

I don't agree with people who say it's unrealistic for people to be dating within the ER. I'm sure its awkward when you have to constantly be working with your ex-, but in group situations, in group work places it happens a lot. Have any of you watched MTV's realworld? I've always found that the small group of people, like the characters in the ER, are always hooking up with each other, and this is real life. I hope that Mark stays with ELizabeth too. They complement each other pretty well.

-- samira (matb_west@chickmail.com), September 15, 2000.

We have a nepotism policy at our office, which means if two people date and then marry, one has to quit. We also don't hire sons, daughters, parents, sisters, brothers, I think even aunts and uncles. Cousins at some point but I'm not sure about first cousins. So there are companies with policies like ours and ones that say no dating in the workplace. I've always had that as a policy...too, too messy.

ER was renewed for four more years, so unless it has a horrible season before then, I think we can count on it being around.

-- Diana (dilynne@juno.com), September 15, 2000.

No no no Brenda, if Greene's fans (we are a small but select group) go into withdrawal syndrome it wont be good at all...=)

-- jules (jules@operamail.com), September 15, 2000.

Carter and Kerry?! Yuck, IMO. And, highly unlikely that Kerry would date a coworker AND someone that she has supervisory power over (if the writers are true to her character).

Also, while it is true that people who work closely together sometimes... SOMETIMES... end up dating, very seldom is it true that EVERY SINGLE person in an office hooks up with EVERY OTHER SINGLE PERSON in the VERY SAME OFFICE. Puleazzzzze, it would not AT ALL be realistic for Mark and Liz to hook up, plus Benton and Cleo, Carter and Kerry, Abby and Luka, AND Deb and Dave to hook up. Please, people, let's deal in reality here. I work for a large company with hundreds of employees, and I met my husband at work at this company. There are many single people that work for my company. However, as far as I know (and I know almost everyone in my company as my manager is a notorious gossip), only TWO other couples at our company met at work, dated and married (about 10 years and 20 years, respectively) before my husband and I married. There are only TWO inter-office dating couples at this moment. So, let's be a little realistic with this "oh, EVERYBODY dates people they meet at work" stuff. So far we have Doug and Carol that presumably have gotten marrried, plus Mark and Lizzie who are in a serious relationship, plus Carter and various coworkers in the past, plus Benton and Cleo. That's above average for the workplace as it is. Anything more, and the show becomes even more soap-operaish than it already is.

-- Paige (c_sat2000@yahoo.com), September 17, 2000.

I have worked at several companies where there were a lot of employees that dated other employees in the company. So,it is common based on what I have observed where I worked over the years. ER might stretch it a bit because they do not want to introduce too many characters that really serve no other purpose than to be someone's love interest. When ER had done that many fans complain. It is a darn if they do, darn if they don't situation. I would love to see Carter/Kerry get together. Yes, Kerry might be hesitant to get involved with someone she is the boss of. However, she went out on a date with Morgenstern when he was her boss. So it might not bother her as much as some people think. She has not had a problem with other co-workers datind people higher or lower up the food chain either.
