I have asked for the EOS 300 kit and it comes with a 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II lens and the price is around $660. Is this lens driven by USM? The lens with USM should be 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 III as what I had read from Canon homepage. Is this lens a good match for the camera? Any other good lenses to be recommended for this camera? Thanks.

nah... it is a non-usm mark II.

though i'm not a professional but in the eyes of such... it is only a "so-so" lens.

many people recommend a 28-105 usm lens...
