Cream Separator

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I started milking goats a few months back. My family does not care for the whole milk. I would like to purchase a cream seperator. The Plava II is the most reasonably priced model I have found. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? Also, I am open to any other information on cream seperators.

Response to Cream Seperator

I bought a used cream separator for $35, hand crank, of course. I also saw a larger one with a motor at an auction for $60, so shop around. I haven't used mine but one time because I only have 1 milk cow and it was more work to clean it up than to just let the milk separate and skim the cream off. Of course goat milk is different.I did find out that it is best to use the separator immediately after milking while the milk is still warm.
