I recently bought a Hiron MC7 2x teleconverter, it has a M and EE mode. I could not figure out how to use AE with this converter and a 40mmf1.8 lens.

Should I set both EE on the teleconverter AND AE on the lens?

Yes, for auto-exposure, set the lens AND converter to EE or AE, whichever they have. You might want to experiment with this combination before doing any serious work, as converters used with shorter lenses sometimes yield less than sharp results.

Could your converter be a Kiron?
