PA: Snafu turns Harmar property owners into scofflaws

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

To err is human.

To really foul things up requires a computer.

And when you bring the two together ...
well, watch out.

Just ask 600 property owners in Harmar,
who last week received notices
from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
that they hadn't paid their school
taxes. Except for one thing -- they had.

. . .

An Allegheny County employee
had simply pushed the wrong button on a
computer, thus prompting the state
to send the notices to the wrong people.
