I am researching the San Francisco-based periodicals (The Golden Era, The Overland Monthly, The Californian) which enjoyed an enthusiastic national and international audience during the 1860s. Does anyone know of a library collection of files and papers from any of these, which might include correspondence with or remarks concerning the writers involved? I have examined microfilms of the publications themselves at Berkeley, but am also looking for a more subtle "paper trail." Thanks very much for any leads --
