Colin Hendry

No, I don't want him but I recall YBR threatening to get him last season and apparently he is up for sale (ie. a deal with Bradford has only just fallen through). Any thoughts? Personally, I hate him and I'd beg Deportivo to let us borrow Helder again but I imagine he has crossed YBR's mind...

Steve Bould is also available, I guess.

What have you got against Hendry, Dougal? Personally, I admire(d) him as a player. Whether he has it in him these days to cope with the PL, I'm not sure. However, in his heyday, he was superb, marshalling his defence and snuffing out almost every threat thrown at him. If only he was 5 years younger - now how many times have I thought that about mesel'?

Don't go for all that loan crap....it just stuffs everyone around and no-one knows where they are with things.....BUY him

We couldn't afford to buy Helder, I don't think. Screach - I just think Hendrie's a thug and he and Shearer hate each other according to Tony Adams.

Ah he's only 34 same age as Adams, I think. Why not sign him on a week-to-week basis. Very experienced, gutsy, good organisation of defence and a leader from the back. Even a 3 month contract? Not much to lose on a short contract.

I think there's more chance of Stephen Hendry turning out for us.

Wouldn't want him, he's be looking for a rest most of the time and I doubt whether near the end of the game he'd have the balls to finish the game.

I'd take anything Tony Adams says with a pinch of, erm, salt.

Who holds Hendrie's registration right now? Coventry? I assume he's not getting a regular game. I think he would be worth a try on month's loan. If Al doesn't get on with him, it might give him sufficient anger to start hitting the net again.

He is still a Cov player. He cost them 750,000 from Rangers when they signed him last year.

I'm sure there is a law which states that you cannot loan a player from a side in the same division as you??

There is such a law but the FA have been known to waive it. For example, West Ham were given authorisation to borrow a PL 'keeper last season. I would imagine our defensive crisis is more compelling than West Ham never buying anything other than strikers and therefore only having only goalie (who they got free).
