Fuji QL Holder II?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

While perusing the Robert White web site, I came across a listing (used) for a Fuji Quickload Holder II. Did Fuji make several versions of the QL holder? I assume this info might be on the Japanese web site, but the US web site has no details on the holder design or model. Thanks for any info.

I don't know Glenn, but, if there are different versions (and you've got a "II") perhaps that explains why you haven't experienced the focal plane issues that Joe Englander wrote about.

Glenn, the apparent differences from the older version and the current (supposedly II) seem to be a new stamp button on the upper right corner and a new padded case, as you can see the picture at Japanese site. The button stamps "E" on the film envelope; "E" as in Exposed. Mine, purchased back in two years ago in US is apparently the older version. I don't know any other mechanical difference yet like Sal's suspition.

Hi All,

YES, Fuji makes another quick load film holder, NOT for export.

1 function is there is a button on the side which stamps an X on the packet, to show that it has been exposed.

Have played with the holder, I'm not impressed

Does anyone know if the pouch shown in Masayoshi Hayashis' post is available in this country. Considering the nasty muck and crud that mine is exposed to, it would be very useful.

DAB,

I purchased a lens wrap large enough to fit my QL holder. It keeps the holder from being damaged, out of the muck, and also can function as a decent dropcloth in the event I need to put some equipment on the ground. I think it is more functional than a pouch because I could use it to hold just about anything I need to protect.

Domke and many others make these lens wraps in various sizes.

Michael,et.al., I love my Quickload film holder but wonder if it will still work if I were to keep it clean...I have come to admire its rich and varied patina...Oh well!!!
