Thanks for telling us samira. It sounds like a good one. Only 2 more weeks until the premiere and I can't wait!

Yeah thanks Samira ... although I have to wait until February next year ... Poor Carter and Benton, Abby's ex-husband will have a face!!!

Cammie ... hang in there, I'm sure you can cope for another two weeks can't you? :)

BTW, Mark Valley sounds very familiar but I can't seem to figure out where I've seen him before. Does anyone know what show he is or used to be on?

-- Cammie (rmaelhorn@home.com), September 27, 2000.

Hi Cammie. The only place I think I know Mark Valley from, and this is embarrassing :) , is Days Of Our Lives. I think he played Jack Devereaux. Since then, I'm sure I have seen him pop up as guest appearances on a few sitcoms and what have you, but I'll be darned if I can think of any off hand. If I do, I'll lat you know.

I can't wait for the new season to get under way either. I have yet yo even see the promo on NBC!

Does anyone know if Benton is applying for attending in the ER or in the OR?

-- Maia (Maiaws@hotmail.com), September 28, 2000.

I heard a spoiler that he would wind up as an attending in the ER.

-- Tracy (bankybooda@aol.com), September 28, 2000.

It would not be the first time that a surgeon was an er attendintg. During the first couple of seasons, Dr.Hicks was an ER attending and a practicing surgeon at county. We saw her as an supervisor in the ER as well as the OR. She did both.

I always thought that Dr Hicks was a surgical attending who just happened to come down to the ER for consults on surgical candidates? I don't believe we ever saw her handle a non-surgical ER case.

My guess is that Benton campaigns to get his Trauma Surgeon Fellowship slot turned into an attending slot in the ER. Just like what they had Doug do for his ER Pediatrics Fellowship.

I've always got the impression that surgery is what Benton lives and breathes for - along with his son Reece. Remember how disappointed he was when Carter chose to leave his surgical sub-i for the ER? From what I've heard, there's no significant financial gain in becoming an attending, so why is he doing it? I guess I'm hoping that he wants to keep a closer eye on Carter when he returns.

The first time we saw Dr. Hickw was in "Blizzard" during season one. Doug mistakes her for the custodial staff. Hicks tells an embarresed Doug that she is the new ER attending. We saw her her supervise Mark and other ER residents as well as surgical residents in season one.

Attending positions positions pay a lot more than Fellowships do. Benton probably needs more money to help support Reese. Benton might want to move out ofhis sister house eventually with Reese. I don't think Benton desire to become an attending has anything to do with Carter. I doubt he will be in the ER anymore as an attending anymore than he was as a trauma fellow. In fact it might be less since he may not have to work as many hours. Both are positions that require him to spend time in the ER. Benton will probably still be seen in surgery as well as the ER. Like I said earlier we have seen surgeons be ER attendings . Benton might become a trauma surgery attending

An attending position is permanent. A fellowship is not.

Well, I guess that answers my question!
