greenspun.com : LUSENET : Aeon Flux : One Thread

Hello. Something caught my eye recently and triggered a memory of the Aeon Flux series. I'm 15 right now, and I remember watching the shorts on Liquid TV, and then when the series came on, trying to stay up as long as I could to watch it before my mom pulled us away from the TV. And when I missed an episode, I could watch it recorded, as my brother would record all his favorite shows.

Anyways, I remember a few years back, my brother bought The Herodus File, so I searched through my brothers old belongings in the basement and found it again, nearly unscathed. It's good to see a community of Aeon Flux fans still existing, as most shows, cancelled for that matter, don't survive the test of time.

On another note, I'm really interested in watching everything again. I plan on buying the tapes, but right now I'm really strapped for cash. I went out the other night in search of the tapes, but settled for Trigun (a great anime) when Aeon was nowhere to be found. Is there anywhere I could download the episodes? If not, thanks anyway.

Just stopping by, Jon

you can watch them on here at: Mtv.com/mtv/tubescan/animation/aeon/index.htm Hey, I really liked the Herodutus file too! It's a keeper!

Trigun, eh? That reminds me, a while back I decided to order some new anime. I settled on Vision of Escaflowne and Fushigi Yugi. Here's what I'd heard about Fushigi Yugi beforehand: "It's got everything! Humor, drama, romance!" "I've never met someone who didn't like this show!" When I recieved the first video, my response was pretty much the same as it was to episodes 11 and 12 of Utena. I honestly could not believe how BAD it was. I hear it gets better as it goes along. I should hope so. Escaflowne's alright. I haven't really formed an opinion one way or the other yet. I'll be ordering some more shortly. Just in case, you know, anyone was interested.

I had wanted to rent Fushigi Yugi, but the text on the back of the box scared me off (I don't really go in for "wacky" anime). But I've heard that the later episodes are quite good, hmm...

Frostbite, I have trouble finding some of the most common of these anime's, is there a good national store for these, or is it just that you have to search, dilligently? You seem to be able to find any and all of them.

Oh, I just go to amazon.com . World's biggest selection. I found GEOBREEDERS there, for gourd's sake. (An extremely obscure and bizzarely irreverent action/comedy anime) I looked for Crayon Shin-chan (which is kinda like the South Park of the East, only worse) but no soap. I've got so many odd fetishes. One would be the "wide assortment of mentally-disturbed almost but not really stereotypes" fetish (Geobreeders) while another would be the "pretty but plotless" shoujo stuff (Sailormoon). Shoujo Kakumei Utena, for example, is both. Today I bought this truly horrible romance manga "Call Me Princess" and enjoyed every page of it. Sigh.

You can also buy "Hard Boiled" at amazon.com .

Fushigi Yuugi IS good. You just have to give it some time.
