Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railway in Wilmington

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

Does anyone happen to know if the CF&YV yard was north or south of Yadkin Junction in Wilmington? I would appreciate any help you can give. I am doing research on the CF&YV and I haven't been able to locate the Wilmington yard. I have found the warehouse and wharves on a Sanborn map, but it doesn't extend much further than Point Peter.

Thanks again,

Richard Matthews

I used to have the book, but I lost it during a move. The Sanborn maps at UNC only show the wharf and warehouse. I was also hoping to find the carfloat apron, but I am now going on the assumption that they used the ferry slip at the bridge works site on the tip of Point Peter (NW Cape Fear River side.)

Thanks for your help.

Richard, have you looked at the Rails to Weeds book, volume I? I know the book traced the origins and the original footprint of the CF&YV, but I don't recall any yard. If you don't have the book, let me know and I'll look for mine to share information. mvh
