Denmark: 40-year-old nuclear reactor to be shut down

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

Denmarks only nuclear reactor, the 10-megawatt
reactor located in the Risx national research
facility in Roskilde, is to be shut down. Risxs
board of directors had to admit last week that the
old reactor was showing signs of wear and tear and
would be too expensive to maintain.

. . .

Kjems assured that the most dangerous high-level
radioactive waste will be transported to the USA,
but at what point will be determined by the cost
of transportation.

Risx has now decided to concentrate its research
efforts on wind power.
