Answers

The SAFE website has an extensive bibliography of information: http://www.safe4all.org

There are some good statistics there. Also check out the Department of Justice statistics, which are fairly current.

I have been mentally abused by my wife for thirty years. Why not leave? I have no where to go, no one to turn to. I feel like a married a carbon copy of my mother who mentally, emotionally and physically abused me. She withholds sex. She shows no appreciation for my career(I am a teacher). She expects me to cater to her every whim. I vacuum, mop, do dishes, make supper, make the bed every morning, and I do the outside work. She begrudges me for bringing home work(i.e. grading papers) and has never in seven years shown an interest in my work.

You always have somewhere to go. That is denial plain and simple my friend. You don't need anyone to turn to. Millions of people make it with nobody but themselves. You have an income. Go rent or buy another place to live. Move somewhere else. Teachers are in demand all over the US. 30 years? You have a problem too. It's called co-dependency.
