Anyone know where to get canner parts?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Does anyone know of a source for old canner parts like gaskets? I have an older Magic Seal canner but the gasket is leaking. I also need a weight for an old mirro canner. Thanks

I've found Mirro parts in the local True Value hardware store. As for the other, I don't know. Maybe the Mirro parts would be interchangable. Also, your local Extension home economist might be able to help. They do pressure canner and cooker testing every spring and should be able to tell you where to find parts.

I've also gotten my canner parts at the local True Value. They can also order a good many items that they just don't stock.

Leheman's has some parts online if you can't get locally you might try e-mailing them for the parts you need and see if they have them and what they cost. gail

Here's another source to check:

I didn't find anything about that first canner you listed, but if you do a web search on Mirro, you can find the Mirro site easily.

I have 2 Mirror pressure cookers weights, no cookers tho, they are 5- 10-15 pound weights. If you would like I will send you one, email me.

Do a web search under "canners". I did this (I can't remember the address) and found websites and addresses/numbers for Mirro and several others. Was able to get parts for my 30 year old canner with no problem. You will need the model #, but ours was easily legible even after all those years. GL!, and if you have problems, let me know and I'll try to help. I suspect, however, you'll have no difficulties!

Try your local Gibson's store.
