Japan: Cosmo Oil to carry out 8% cut in refining capacity

Cosmo Oil Co. said Tuesday it will cut its
oil refining capacity by around 8%, or 50,000
barrels per day, effective April 2001, to
streamline its operations.

Cosmo Oil will reduce the capacity of its
refinery in Sakai, Osaka, by 30,000 barrels
from the current 110,000 barrels, and that
of another plant in Sakaide, Kagawa Prefecture,
by 20,000 barrels from 140,000.
