(October 10, 2000) -- Pilots Dan Dominguez and Chris Wall of World Flight 2000 made an unscheduled and "precautionary" landing Monday at an airport in a town on the Red Sea in Egypt.

Their airplane, called Dreamcatcher, was not damaged. No one was hurt.

With unrest in the Middle East, the pilots already had altered their route.

Instead of traveling to Jordan as planned, they left Cairo Monday for Manama, the capital of the Persian Gulf island nation of Bahrain.

About an hour south of Cairo, Dominguez and Wall decided to land in Hurghada because of erratic fuel pressure in one of the engines, said Jennifer Powers, spokeswoman for World Flight 2000.

Wall, an aircraft mechanic, is evaluating the engine. The Egyptian airport authority and military have helped the crew, Powers said.

Conflicts between Israelis and Palestinians made the flight to Jordan dangerous, she said. After Bahrain, they will fly to Oman.

Dominguez, who graduated from the University of Rochester in May, and Wall, a Rice University senior, left Rochester on Sept. 13.
