Finnish Defence Forces Cut Down Operations Due to High Oil Prices M2 Communications

October 12, 2000

OCT 12, 2000, M2 Communications - The Finnish defence forces have had to cut down on drives and flights due to the high oil price, with the air force most affected by the cuts.

According to the air force, there will be a FIM25m additional bill this year due to the increase in fuel prices. There will be a 20% cut in the flights with the Hawk fighters and the Hornet fighters will be used a third less than previously.

The navy on the other hand has not cut down on the amount of time spent driving, but the boats are instead driven in a more economic way and not at full speed.
