Third episode spoilers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

The ER Daily site has the third episode listed as "Mars Attacks". It says that Carter befriends a handicapped boy during a shortage of surgeons (don't know what that last part means for Carter, maybe he'll have to use his former surgical expertise...but of course he'd probably get in trouble with that...maybe he'll run into creepy Edson...why doesn't *he* care that Lucy's dead?...getting off the subject); Elizabeth has to instruct Mark through a procedure over intercom (yea, more development for these two!); some patients get arrested. Not much, but I didn't think anyone posted anything about this one yet. Glad to hear there is a glimmer of Carter's sweetness coming back.

Elaine, are you referring to Carter or Edson as to not caring Lucy's dead. Carter cares. In "May Day" he said he feels partly responsible for her death. As for Dale, I really don't care about him. What was Lucy thinking going out with that scum anyway? We'll never have an answer for that one. "Mars Attack" is the Halloween episode. So I guess that's where they got the title from.

Cammie, I think Elaine is referring to the fact that Dale probably doesn't care that Lucy's dead, being that they dated. It's obvious that Carter cares. Luckily we don't see much of Dale these days...

Is Dale even at Cook County anymore? With his ego, I'd think after his internship he'd want to go someplace more presitgous (sp?).

Could be, AmyE, but also could be that he'd prefer to be a big fish in a little pond than a small fish in a big pond. Not that County is such a small pond (but maybe not as prestigious as others).

Some new news about "Mars Attacks"..."a recovering Carter will perform procedures he is not allowed to do on his first day back...Benton will pay for not agreeing w/ Romano." Great, so Carter gets in trouble already!

Elaine, where did you hear this from?

Oh I really hope Carter isn't stupid enough to break any procedural rules the first day back. I suppose though, that he is probably just having trouble adjusting to what he can and can not do; not really breaking ER rules.

Re the spoilers up above-

"From TVGrid: Dr. Benton (Eriq La Salle) pays the price for challenging Dr. Romano (Paul McCrane); a recovering Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) performs restricted duties his first day back on the job."

I think the first poster may have misread the Carter bit. His duties are restricted on his first day back; he doesn't break the rules.

Does this mean Carter won't be coming back to work in the second episode?

-- Kat (SnowballandCinnamonrule@juno.com), October 16, 2000.

Cammie, we got this from the ER Daily News page. You're right, it probably is just restricted, but it also says he befriends someone while they have a shortage of surgeons...so I was thinking maybe he uses his old surgical skills, though he technically *isn't* a surgeon, he knows the procedures...either way, it seems he will be getting in a bit of trouble.

Kat, according to the spoilers and the Canadian preview (another thread), he meets w/ Mark and Kerry in the next episode to find out under what circumstances he will be coming back, and I assume he will not be "back" to work until the 3rd episode.
