Need information on home built saw mills

You might want to check out the magazine 'Independent Sawmill and Woodlot Management'. They have a website also. I've subscribed for a year...tons of information on store bought bandsaw and other small mills. They also have ads for home built mills. Also, lots of parts so you can build your own.

I've contemplated building a bandsaw mill, most of the costs of a store bought mill is the 'infrastructure' supporting the actual cutting parts.

Backwoods home magazine had a article on their website on making a chainsaw lumbermill, it was detailed and actually looked fairly easy, if you want I saved the page and I can email it to you, its a little large though since it includes all the pictures.

Phil mentioned www.about.com in another recent post. I did a quick look see and was amazed at all the info that came up.

Also www.sawmillexchange.com was mentioned. Know a guy who bought a small, portable bandsaw type setup thru them. It was only about 25 miles from where he lives. Luck.

I built a bandsaw mill 3 yrs ago, great project, sold it this fall. I am already planning the next one. If you are still planning on bulding one , feel free to contact me I'll help as much as I can.
